Madge Sinclair, two firsts?

Recommended Posts

Alright, we all know that Madge Sinclair played the first female starship captain in Star Trek history when she was Captain of the Saratoga.

What I'm wondering, was she also the first Africian-American captain? The ST Encyclopedia mentions in Janeway's section that Sinclair was first but there is nothing similar in Sisko's. I haven't seen all the original series eps so I can't be sure.

I remember there being an African-American Commodore in one episode but never an actual captain.

Can anyone elaborate?

In 'The Wrath of Khan', the Captain Terrell of the Reliant was black.

Oh Man! I can't believe I forgot Terrell! He was a pretty good captain.

In Star Trek III, the Commander Of Starfleet was a black dude.

That was Admiral Cartright, and I think he was chief of security in starfleet.
