The King, I don't recall anyone on this thread going nuts over any of the continuity issues you brought up.

I was using the Romulan issue to highlight what is a real pedantic element of the Trek fanbase who are overly concerned with details that cause problems.

 

If you are going to blast Enterprise 'nitpickers' (or nitpickers in general) then do it in the Enterprise forum or Ten Forward.

Forgive me if I gave the impression that I was accusing you of talking about the members of this site, my intension was to point out that the "nitpicky" comments weren't particularly relevant to the thread by giving examples. Sorry.

 

To be honest I agree with your view that destructive 'bashing' nitpicking is a problem and, I'm sorry to say, one any future Trek movie or series will have to face.

 

The reason this thread isn't in the Enterprise forum is because its focus is on the Romulan arc and its effect on the Romulans and their 'backstory'.

Of the Romulans using borg tech in the 22nd century. Couldn't we go a step farther and say that it is possible that the romulan cloaking device was created using borg technology and that the other more advanced tech like the 'telepath remote control' was salvaged directly from borg equipment and Couldn't be recreated by the Romulans?

I enjoyed the storyline arc for what it was. The level of technology a nation can have can fluctuate with time, after the effects of war and with different regimes. So it is reasonable to assume that Romulan technology could have been more sophisticated in the past than in a future incarnation. I loved seeing the Reman guards escorting the High Ranking Romulan. And the writers lept them out of face to face contact with the Federation. Shran fighting Archer was very TOS!
