A l t e r E g o 9 Posted November 22, 2004 (edited) ******************** WELCOME TRIVIA PLAYERS to the STFs Second Annual STUMP YOUR OPPONENTS Trivia Game Hosted by Alterego! The game is slightly revised from last year so Please Read Carefully! In this game YOU get to be the quizmaster thinking up one question to stump and confound fellow players while earning bonus points in two different ways… One: Every member submitting a question (which meets eligibility requirements listed below) will receive 5 bonus points even if the question is not used in the game. Two: Players whose question Stumps* another player (causes an incorrect answer to be given) will receive a bonus 5 points for each player stumped! *Not answering a question is the same as answering incorrectly, your opponent gets the points! 1: Starting NOW every Trivia playing member who wishes to may submit ONE question (along with the correct verifiable* answer) regarding the subject of STAR TREK to ME (Alterego) in a PM; Answers MUST be included to receive your 5 bonus points. *Answers for Questions which I cannot verify as correct will be disqualified and no bonus points will be awarded so send your proof along too. 2: ONLY Canonical material from any of the five series or ten movies may be used; questions based on Novels, Comic Books, Fan Fic or even TAS will not be accepted and will not be awarded 5 bonus points for submission. 3: The Deadline for question submissions is when I logout on the evening of day 12/03/04. Questions sent after I log out on that day will not be eligible for bonus points nor will they be used in the game. AMENDMENTS 4: No multiple part questions: "Who did What to Whom in Which episode" types of questions are more than ONE question. 5: True or False questions are acceptable. If there is any problem with your submitted question I will contact you in PMs to work it out. You need not submit questions to be eligible to play as usual but without your submissions there may be no questions to answer. Sometime during my morning of Saturday 12/04/04 I will post up to 20 questions (assuming I receive 20 questions.]) You will not receive credit for answering the question you submitted so do not even go there. The actual game will be played during the week of 12/04/04 through 12/10/04 so you have about 11 days to think up and send me your question for use in the game. In this game there is potential for HUGH points to be awarded so don't miss out; start thinking up a (really hard) question and send it to me (along with the answer and proof) ASAP. To avoid any problems with sending me your PMs please do not use Word to compose your messages, Word Punctuations WILL cause PMs fail. I think that's everything but if not please post any questions here. ****************************************************** Edited November 23, 2004 by Alterego
Jaz4stfguy 0 Posted November 23, 2004 What would be considered "canonical" material? And by "verifiable", do you mean to cite the approved material by title and page? Thanks for the game, ST. This may finally get my feet wet in the trivia biz! :pepsi: Jaz

Jeanway 0 Posted November 23, 2004 AE, in rule #1. You said "every Trivia playing member". What does that mean exactly? A member who plays Trivia on a regular basis? Or does it mean any member who wants to play in THIS game???
He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted November 23, 2004 What if our question is about something everyone THINKS is canon but it isn't? For example, I could say something about situation X in episode Y that most people think is explained in an earlier or later episode even though it is never explained in any episode or movie. Would this be allowed?
A l t e r E g o 9 Posted November 23, 2004 What would be considered "canonical" material? And by "verifiable", do you mean to cite the approved material by title and page? 283032 A question based on any 5 (live action) series or 10 movies is considered canonical. "Verifiable" means I want proof your supplied answer is correct, (even if I know it to be true) a link to the source would work. In case of disputes I will supply a link to the proof. AE, in rule #1. You said "every Trivia playing member". What does that mean exactly? A member who plays Trivia on a regular basis? Or does it mean any member who wants to play in THIS game??? 283078 Everyone even if they've never played before. What if our question is about something everyone THINKS is canon but it isn't? For example, I could say something about situation X in episode Y that most people think is explained in an earlier or later episode even though it is never explained in any episode or movie. Would this be allowed? 283100 This is why PROOF of your answer is required. Answers for questions based on OPINIONS are not allowed, answers to questions based on FACTS are. I added the following amendments to the first post... AMENDMENTS 4: No multiple part questions:"Who did What to Whom in Which episode" types of questions are more than ONE question. 5: True or False questions are acceptable. If there is any problem with your submitted question I will contact you in PMs to work it out.
