I fully understand where all you guys are coming from in favor of bringing in established characters and such.

But the good Captain said something up above, and at least from my side of the coin, it was dead-on. Simply, to me, most of the shows that utilize other characters feel "forced".

The Vulcans and Klingons aside, the only species featured in "Enterprise" that I felt comfortable with(taken from another "Trek" show) were the Andorians.

The Borg issue is 50-50 with me for reasons I explained in another post.

I thought they did an excellent job with the Borg in Regeneration. If they could write something so that Guinan's appearance did not appear forced then I think they should go for it. Having said that I cannot think of any reason for her to be there during Enterprises time.

I like the occassional mention of species that we have met in the other series such as Phlox's mention of the Bynars in Regeneration. I would like to see the introduction of some more species who will be among the founding members of the Federation.

I say they should shy away from using characters and situations from the other shows as much as possible.

I get the impression that they are trying to cash in on the past popularity of the other "Trek" shows and that they are afraid to let "Enterprise" have it's own identity.

We already know that certain characters were alive in "Enterprise"'s time, that doesn't mean we need to or should bring them in for cameo appearances or whatnot.

Keep it original, guys. It makes it more fun.

I love when other members take the words out of my mouth and so beautifuly write them into a post.

There's only 3 characters from previous series, that I think could show up on ENT.

Guinnan

Dax's first or second host

Q

I have no problem with these 3 characters showing up through out the coarse of the series. Spock, Scotty, and McCoy showed up on TNG, no one had a problem with that. Sulu, Riker, Q, Barclay, Troi, and LaForge showed up on VOY. What's wrong with 3 guest appearnces on ENT?

Why not

If we have a good story - a good plot, then I don’t see any reason not to consider the possibilities of brining her on the show as a guest star.

you hit that on the head. you've had so many crossovers on the other shows, why should this one be any different. here, here CJLP

We all know Whoopi Goldberg's character, Guinan, from TNG has been alive since before the 1800s, so why not have her make an appearence? As Guinan? It's not like it couldn't happen. It would be cool to see her give captain Archer some advice.

Woops. Looks like there's already a thread for this... if any moderator sees this, could you please lock it? Sorry.

I am bumping this up forward, and combining it with the more recent thread started by sea trooper.

I have also deleted the posts asking ,"where?". I have also deleted sea trooper's post of the URL, since the threads are now combined.

The problem is that with Spock and Sarek (I hadn't heard about McCoy's appearance so I'll just ignore it for now), it was normal that they would still be around, with the life span of Vulcans. And w/ the Voyager cameo's they were still relatively in the same era, so it isn't so inconcievable that they would be around. But Enterprise is 200 hundred years behind all that which means a temporal anomoly time flip-flop deal would be the inevitable plot, which we've already seen plenty of on Enterprise. The writer's wouldn't be able to do it w/o getting a strange forced feeling.

McCoy was on the very first episode of TNG and only for about 30 seconds as Data escorted him to a shuttle right at the end of the first hour.

With Guinnan it's more of a possibility for her to show up because we know she was on Earth as early as the late 1890's (or whenever Time's Arrow was set).

 At this point I don't think it would matter. Sadly I am begining to think that Ent is a lost cause and very little could change my view on it unless they take it in a fresh new direction!

I agree with Dixon, it could start contraversy. I would like to see her appear but then again it could start contraversy.

I don't mind the "occasional" link to a past series.

So far, in terms of aliens or characters that don't belong in the 22nd century, we've seen: Ferengi, Borg, and Thollians

So far, they've only done 3 links.  What's everyone complaining about?

I have to disagree with you on the Thollians. They showed up in TOS so they are very much a part of the good ole Starfleet days. As for the Feringi and Borg they were both explaned very well and I doybt we will ever see them again. The Thollians however may be seen again.

I think occasional references to other characters on the other trek series is fine but ENTERPRISE still should have it's own identity as the other IV series before it had just show the origin of the stuff we already know like to see how it all came about btw have you also noticed that they've done more beaming than being in the shuttlepod recently in the trilogy with Brent Spiner's Arrik Soong.

:unsure: :frusty::tear: :(

I think having her on 'Enterprise' might draw in some TNG fans. I'm not sure, I liked the character, it couldn't hurt, why not!

It's a prequel, it's not meant to have its own identity; it's meant to set the stage for what comes later.

It tried DESPERATELY to have its own identity and it nearly got killed for its effort.

I say bring on Guinan and any/everyone else possible (with a good reason to be) and keep writing stories as wonderful as at present & which connect to the other 4 series and it will be fine.

I voted maybe.

I don't think a whole episode or series of episodes is warranted. But perhaps there could be a little cameo appearance where Enterprise is at some alien port, and Guinan is sitting around "listening," as her species is apt to do. Perhaps someone had pointed her out as a source of information, and Jonatan Archer just gets this piece of information from her. As he is walking away, she might say to a companion, " Hmm. They have come a long way since I was last on Earth. Perhaps in the future we ought to tag along with them on some of their missions, to get the see where it is they are heading."
