~~ The End of The Beginning ~~

A blinding flash, accompanied by what sounded like thunder shocked all on the ships. " A storm?" Jeanway said to herself. " Could that end all this?" Knowing that was a definate possibility the thought of redemtion entered everyone's minds. They began to cheer and pray even louder. When again a deafening boom of thunder and another blinding flash of red-yellow light lit the harbour. When to the East between the approaching fireships and the bow of the Elusive an appature began to form and become clearly visible to all. It began as it had on two previous occasions over the Ocean. Once when a huge object came thundering through it and crashed onto the island of Borabora. The other when a small raft was expelled through one then quickly consumed again by another on the surface of the ocean. Clearly in view of the crews of the Kongau Maru and the Elusive.

As the appature widened and elongated before them another blinding flash of light and roaring boom of thunder shook the ships, the ocean and the air around them. The appature now in full view and prominance had this same center. That of a looking glass, yet not a looking glass. The suface of the center rippling as the surface of the ocean yet it was not the surface of the ocean. A mighty wind began to pull the ships towards it as it lowered into the water's surface. Half sumberged and half above the suface. Another blinding flash and boom of thunder and all four ships were drawn by some unknown force to it's center. First the Elusive was pulled into it and disappeared, then the Batavia, next the Bonaventure, finally the Kongua Maru. All sucked into this unknown vortex of light and sound. The appature began to shrink in width and height. And with a final flash and boom it disappeared.

~~ DAY STAR ~~

THIS IS THE NEW BEGINNING OF THE THREAD TITLED ' DAY STAR '.

As the sun is the only star visible in the day, all others are invisible to us. So is the Starship ' ELUSIVE ' invisible to all, yet still there.

Since all four ships have disappeared into what we have ONLY known up until now as the 'APPATURE'. It is actually a time portal that plucks people and objects from one time and throws them into another. It hurled Amelia Earhart from 1937 into the past, 1825, where she crashed onto the island of Borabora in French Polynesia, in the South Pacific some 1000 miles and 112 years from her last known location. Also the ' Kon Tiki ' a raft of explorers from 1952 into the past, 1825 for a brief visit across the waters of the Indian Ocean.

The Elusive, The Batavia, The Bonaventure and The Kongou Maru are now in the appature, the time portal and are headed for the future. These four, wooden sailing ships will no longer exist. Instead all will be aboard the Starship USS Elusive well into the future.

This actual Stardate hasn't been determined yet. But since time-travel brought them here they may be able at anytime to time-travel again.

The Elusive is a Star Fleet Security Ship. A covert entity of StarFleet. She is deployed on missions of extreme consequence in times of crisis. She is always cloaked. In her wake travels a sister ship known as the 'Hot-Train'. It also is cloaked at all times. Both the Elusive and the Hot-Train travel as a team through space and time. They both have a Co-Captainship. Meaning they both have two Captains. In the event one is unable to perform it's respective ship's duties.

Both ships have Warp 12 capabilities and can land on any planet surface, much like Voyager. The Elusive's Captains are Admiral Jeanway and Admiral Seska. The Captain's of the Hot-Train are Captain Fenriz and Captain vold.

The Hot-Train is a weaponry depot. I contains all fire power needed to defend the Elusive and itself from any kind of known threat. It has 12, highly specialized shuttles that can be deployed at a moment's notice. All weaponry will be explained by Captain Fenriz and Captain vold.

We will be involved in changing the fate of many doomed situations and yes, we may change the course of history.

The crew of the Kongou Maru release the moorings of the vessel as she prepares to set sail. Her sensei walks the deck contentedly as he observes his renewed vessel

Proving her seaworthiness again. She casts off and drifts effortlessly for a few moments and her crew begins hoisting the triangular sails of the agile vessel. Several of the townsfolk collect on the pier to see Nikkori off. The fat Chinese man is among them, and he nods smiling to Nikkori, who bows with a smirk on his face. A few of the young women on the pier blow kisses, as Nikkori returns a barely perceptible nod – a smirk on his face. As the Kongou Maru glides deftly into the center of the harbor, an explosion rips through the air. Nikkori snaps his head to the east and sees a large fleet of warships approaching. A cannonball rips through a sail, and Nikkori’s face warps into a tooth-baring frown. He shouts back to the helmsman.

“Higashi! Ano fune no mai ni….” He is thrown to his back as an explosion rocks his vessel. Springing up, he draws his katana.

In a foolhardy gesture, the Kongou Maru turns hard to the overwhelming fleet. Several crewman run to the deck with the newly purchased firebrands. The dragon figurehead spews smoke from a furnace below deck transforming the vessel into a lithe, fire-belching demon of the deep. Three men step to the bow with grapples preparing to board one of the vessels, and several flaming crossbow bolts are shot from the Kongou’s stern. Nikkori grins intensely as he directs the Kongou Maru towards the fast approaching fleet.

As the vessels near each other, a cannonball spashes hard on the Kongou’s portside, rocking her violently. Nikkori slips over the edge of the vessel, hanging by his hand. With his right hand, he grabs his wakazashi, and plants it firmy into the Kongou Maru’s side. With this newly-made handle, he swings upward and lands squarely on the deck. Drawing his katana, he shouts an order. Several of the fireworks are lit and sent screaming towards fleet, now only a furlong off. Three ninja step to Nikkori’s side, as he prepares to board the nearest ship.

Suddenly, a hard east wind blows across the harbor, and the Kongou Maru is swept hard aside. As the helmsman struggles to maintain course, the Kongou Maru is swept rapidly away from the fleet. Nikkori growls his disappointment this sudden loss of course. Travelling rapidly in the wind, a cannonball narrowly screams by Nikkori’s head, blowing his long braid around his neck.

The Kongou Maru is blown headlong towards the scintillating vortex. The crew of the Kongou Maru looks on surprised as they approach ever faster towards the swirling aperture. Nikkori lowers his sword as he slowly walks to the front of the vessel.

“Kami no to deshoo ka…..” He whispers…. The doorway of the gods.

The Kongou Maru is swept into the vortex, leaving behind only a rapidly fading smoke trail.

In Jeanway's ready room she and Seska are discussing the situation with their Father, a Five Star Admiral, Lucius Jeanway at Starfleet Security, on the 'BOX'.

" But Dad" Jeanway whined like a little girl. " Don't you use that tone with me young lady. You may be an Admiral and all grown-up now but I can still tan your hide if I have to!" He said sternly. Seska tried to hide her amusement with her hand over her mouth. " What are you laughing at?" Jeanway said to her as she turned around sharply. " Not a thing." She answered, still giggeling. " And you too, Seska, I'll not have any of your backtalk." Seska's face lost it's smirk. " Yes Sir." She answered. "Now." He continued. " You two knew what you were getting into when you took this assignment, didn't you?" He asked. " Yes Dad." They both answered in unison. Jeanway began again. " But you know they waited far too long before they called us into this little fiasco. Now they want us to clean up their mess, again. Why do they wait so long Dad?" She asked. " Honey, you know how things have to go up the ranks before they are approved, that's all this was, redtape, bureaucratic bullcrap, that's all." Seska spoke up. " But can't you do anything to move things along any faster?" He answered. " I'm trying Honey but it takes time. We'll change things here, but it just takes time, that's all, be patient with me, alright?" Seska stood in front of the ' BOX' and said. " Alright Dad, I believe you but please try harder next time. We could save alot more lives if we could get there sooner." " I know Dear, I'm doing my best here, just be patient, alright?" "Sure Dad." She answered. TRANSMISSION ENDED. The computer stated.

"I should have told him." Seska said. "Yes, but he ended the transmission before you had a chance to." Jeanway added. "That's not your fault Sessy. You know how he is, when StarFleet calls, he runs, no matter what." Seska looked down at her slightly protruding abdomen and gave it a gentle rub.

Later on the bridge, Jeanway on duty, more so these days than on previous missions since Seska needs more rest.

"Fenriz to the bridge." Jeanway taps her com-badge. " Go ahead." She answers. "Modifications to the Hell-Ships complete and ready for your inspection Admiral." Fenriz relied. She taps again. "Be right there." Jeanway heads for the transporter room. Along the way she stops at engineering. " Lietenant HeadBorg, I'd like you to come with me for an inspection and give me your opinion on something." She asked the head of engineering, Lieutenant HeadBorg. " Right away Admiral." He answered as he banged on the Warp Core with a folded newspaper. " There, got it." He said as he flicked a dead bug off the casing. They left engineering and headed down the corridor to transporter room 1. The door slid open, they entered and stepped up onto the platform. Jeanway gave Lwxana a nod and said "Energize".

Over on the Hot-Train now Jeanway and HeadBorg stepped down and were greeted immediatey by Captain Fenriz and Captain vold. " Good to see ya." Fenriz said as her grabbed her hand and shook it. Glaring at HeadBorg as he stood beside her. Captain vold, gave a slight bow and said " Admiral." Then saluted her. Fenriz immediatley escorted Jeanway to the shuttle bays. Captain vold and Lieutenant HeadBorg followed close behind. As they entered a large, circular open space their voices began to echo. Fenriz hurried Jeanway over to an alcove and whispered to her " Tonight?" She just winked at him and said. " All in due time my friend." As vold and HeadBorg closed in behind them, Jeanway ecaped his obvious advances and joined them. "Damn" Fenriz said to himself. "You'd think I smelled like a Klingon."

Temporal Mechanics Lab is bustleling with activity. Lieutenant T'Mal sits at his terminal. Jeanway walks up to him. "How are things today, T 'Mal?" She asks him.

" Havin a bit uf a problem with the year 2004 Ma'am, but I'm sure I can fix it." He answers. " I'm sure you can, if you can't, then just delete it." She says sarcasticly. They both laugh.

WEAREBORG4102 appears in the temporal lab dressed in a lab coat and glasses. "hello, Jeanway." "there seemed to be a sideeffect to the appature." Jeanway looks surprisedm confused at the appearance of WEAREBORG4102. "Don't worry, Jeanway. I know what's happening. The appature is a rift in the space time continuum that drifts into the fourth dimension. It allows for the travel on all 5 planes. Length, width, breadth, forward time and backward time. Unfortunately, sicne our minds cannot process the Apature, it appears that we have hyperccelerated time in a time dialation bubble. We are on a differential dimensional brane."

Nikkori limps heavily to sickbay, a gash on his right thigh bleeding down his leg. He holds his katana in it's scabbard in his right hand, as he holds the gash on this thigh with his left. He winces with each step, nodding nonchalantly and smiling to crewmembers as he passes by.

Walking into sickbay, he helps himself to the nearest table and sits. An attractive nurse approaches with an anabolic protoplaser and a condescending scowl. She wags her head slowly as she approaches.

"Isn't this the third time this week?" She asks exasperatedly.

"It is important to stay in good practice." Nikkori says quietly with a thick accent as the nurse waves the protoplaser over his wound.

"Stay in practice? How often do you think you're going to use that thing here in the phased version of deep space we're zipping through?" She pulls back the protoplaser and tears Nikkori's pants, revealing more of the wound. Nikkori shrugs at her question.

"Wouldn't it just be safer to use the holodeck?" The nurse asks. She snaps off the protoplaser and admires her handiwork. Nikkori rubs his leg a few times and jumps off the table shrugging his shoulders at the nurse's question.

"The computer images of the holodeck are too predictable. Real opponents are much more satisfying. With the holodeck, one knows that he shall leabe with no

injuries. With a person, one fights with his blade, but also with his heart. It is..... samuria."

"How many today?" The nurse sighs at Nikkori's ancient notions of honor as she places the protoplaser back in a cabinet.

"Two Klingons with bat'leths and an Andorian. I found the ambidextrous Andorian to be bery skilled with the psis, and he distracted me while I took a blow from the Klingons. They habe fought with inspiration!" Nikkori beams as he speaks, and the nurse rolls her eyes.

"If the Admiral finds out about this, she's beaming your sword into space at maximum dispersal, and you're gonna follow it."

Nikkori bows to the nurse thanking her for her healing. "This is a bery good healing. Now I must go. The Klingons are waiting, and I still habe one hour before reporting. Thank you."

Picking up his katana, Nikkori walks briskly down the corridor.

"Sick-Bay to Bridge" Nurse Ratchet says as she taps her com-badge. "Go ahead" Jeanway responds. " Admiral, you have to do something about Nikkori, he's at it again." Jeanway thinks for a moment then responds. " I hear ya, I'll take care of it. Thank you Ratchett for keeping me informed. Jeanway out." " Take over Chakotay, I'll be down in Nikkori's quarters if I'm needed." She says. "Aye, aye, Admiral." He says as he takes his place in her chair.

"Enter" Nikkori says. The door slides open. " May I speak with you Lieutenant?" Jeanway asks before she enters. " Most certainly, Admiral, I knew I would see you, I just didn't know how soon." Nikkori answered. " You and I have discussed this before, have we not?" She asked. " Admiral, you must understand, I must practice my art, I am Samuri." He answered. " I must insist, only on the holodeck with all safety protocols on, and that's my final word." Nikkori grumbled under his breath, unintelligiabley. "What was that?" Jeanway quipped. " Nothing Admiral." Nikkori answered. "Good, then we understand each other, do we not?" She asked.

"Yes, I understand, and yet I will comply under protest." Jeanway looked at him then added as she scanned his quarters with her eyes. " And I'll take these." She said as she removed four ceremonial kitanas from the place they were hung on the wall. Nikkori watched in total horror. His mouth closed, his jaw clenched. You can have these back once this mission is over. We need you right now, in one piece.

Jeanway left Lieutenant Nikkori's quarters and went straight to her ready room. Locking Nikkori's kitanas up for safe keeping.

Nikkori exits the holodeck and leans against the bulkhead. He wipes sweat from his bald head with his braid and scowls a the wall, considering his hard, yet unfullfilling duel with a bitstream.

"Computaa no kenjitsu wa mazui.... katana ga attara.... " He continues to mutter. The computer terminal at the holodeck console chirps as his words are picked up by the universal translator.

"Doozo! Tetsudaimashoo ka. Nani ga hoshi desu ka." The alluring femine voice requests from the holodeck console. Nikkori glances quickly up and down the hall, leans in close to the console, and tells the computer what it can go do with itself.

"Gomen nasai." The computer apologizes. "Dekimasen." The computer informs Nikkori that his request is outside of the limits of its programmed parameters.

As Nikkori leans against the bulkhead considering his doomed practice sessions, Lt. Buzzkill from the Starfleet Marine contingent approaches with five of his officers. Standing head and shoulders above Nikkori with short-cropped blonde hair, massive chest and arms, and a square face, he glances down at Nikkori. Buzzkill and his officers all wear overly tight short-sleeved red shirts. He flexes his thick neck and sniffs as he approaches the console.

"You done with the holodeck?" His deep voice resonates slightly down the corridor.

"Hai." Nikkori responds absently.

Buzzkill leans down to the console and speaks. "Computer... Combat training program 15.... hand-to-hand... full contact..... "

"Processing.... Please stand by....", the console says sweetly. Nikkori's eyes brighten and he looks at the lieutenant.

"Excuse me," he says, "do you require an opponent?" Buzzkill looks down at Nikkori.

"Heh! You're a bit small for full contact training, aren't you peewee?" The contingent with Buzzkill chuckles.

"Then perhaps you shall be gentle with me." Nikkori smirks up at Buzzkill.

"Ok, pipsqueak.... let's go...." The holodeck doors slide open and Nikkori, smiling mischeviously follows the six hulking marines into the program.

........

An hour later, six marines exit the holodeck walking gingerly. Some are holding their sides, and some are wincing slightly as they move. Buzzkill limps slightly and grunts quietly as he walks. Nikkori walks jauntily out and smiles widely at Buzzkill.

"Thank you for a bery enjoyable practice." He bows to Buzzkill.

'Uhh.... mmmmm... yeah... sure." He grunts.

"Are you in pain?" Nikkori asks, "Perhaps you must see the doctor?"

"NO!" Buzzkill says quickly. "We're fine. Aren't we boys?" The contingent moans slightly.

"Then you shall not be seeing the doctor? Perhaps you should report to your superior that you habe been beat up by the commun-"

"NO!" Again Buzzkill quickly snaps a reply. "We ummm....... hmmmmm.... are fine."

Buzzkill and his men shift somewhat embarrassed as Nikkori smiles back at them for several seconds of silence.

"Bery good then!" He says. "Perhaps we shall practice again sometime."

"Uh.... yeah." Buzzkill says. He nods briefly and walks away. Nikkori bows as they leave, pivots on his left foot, and walks back to his quarters to clean up before his next shift.

Seska and her husband ILikeSeven can be heard all over the ship as they conferenced on the "BOX" with Seska's father, Five Star Admiral Lucius Jeanway, back at StarFleet Security Command Center. " He's never going to accept you into the family and our baby won't have a Grampa." :look: Seska blubbered as they returned to their quarters " Ahh, not to worry Love, I'll win him over in time." ILikeSeven said to her as he kissed he on the cheek. " Not to worry, Alright?" She looked at him, hoping what he was saying was true. "Go have a nap, I'm on duty in 10 minutes, I'll come back and check on you on me break." He said to her. Seska layed down and fell asleep, still crying.

We are in the year 3333, we started as Sea Trek but we have been blown into the future by being sucked into a time Portal in 1825 in the South Pacific Port of Macao. 4 sailing ships have disappeared and all their crews are now aboard the Elusive, and the HT 01 Elusive. A cloaked StarFleet Security ship. The HT, or Hot-Train is an adjuct or sister ship that travels with the Elusive at all times. The HT 01, contains all the weaponry. One hundred 'Evader' Shuttlecraft with enourmous fire power. Also cloaked. The anti-matter generator on-board the Elusive, produces an eliptical cloak which hides both ships from detection from any sensor configurment. Because the anti-matter generator on board the Elusive cloaks both ships and uses so much energy for cloaking the use of weapons is not possible. The HT 01 is capable of protecting both ships from any attack. Both ships have a Co-Captainship. Admiral Jeanway and Admiral Seska, aboard the Elusive. Captain Fenriz and Captain vold aboard the 'HT 01 Elusive'. The HT 01 Elusive fits into the stern of the Elusive in a sort of triangular shaped notch. Held there with a system of magnetic hull plating that holds her there, never coming in contact with the main vessel, she travels at the same speed as the Elusive, never touching her. We are on our way to the Delphic Expanse, sometime in the past. We are capable of time-travel and are going to fix the Xindi problem before it even happens.

Captain Fenriz sat at his desk and read the day's reports. After all the technological development that mankind had achieved they still hadn't managed to figure out a way to get rid of red-tape. Normally Fenriz would have found this amusing, when he wasn't buried under a mountain of reports and requisitions. On his console he had several messages from Starfleet Security wanting updates on the status of the HT 01. "We'll have to do something about that name." he thought. Going over everything in his head Fenriz was surprised that they were almost on schedule, with any new ship there were a lot of bugs to shake out of the system, but things on the HT 01 had gone very smoothly. This fact troubled Fenriz, always something of a pessimist he couldn't help scanning the reports he read for bad news, luckily his crew always disappointed him in that regard. Setting the PADD he had been reading down, he got up and walked over to the replicator, his door chimed just as he ordered a cup of coffee. "Come." he said. The door swished open and his 1st officer entered, Commander Valkeen was short for an Andorian and he had a slim frame but Fenriz had seen more than one sparring partner of the Commander's thrown across a mat in the gym. "Catching up on some paperwork Sir?" the Commander asked. "Always Val, always. Can I get you something." Fenriz answered. Valkeen shook his head and Fenriz took his coffee back to his desk. "I thought you'd like to know that we've gotten the fourth launch bay for the Evaders just about operational. It should be ready by 08:00." Valkeen said. "Good, ahead of schedule. Very good." Fenriz said as he sipped his coffee. Val had only been serving with Fenriz for a few months but he was already able to read his Captain, most of the time. His antennae moved forward as he asked, "You can't wait to take one of the Evaders out for a test flight, can you Sir?" Fenriz sat his coffee down on his desk, "I can wait, but not much longer." Fenriz replied, smiling at his 1st officer.

" HT? How's it going over there with those launch bay doors, Fen?" Jeanway asks as she taps her Com-Badge. " Just fine, all finished." He replied. " I'll be over in a bit, just finishing up some logs." She said. " I'll be waiting." Fenriz answered.

Nikkori sits rigidly on his knees in his quarters with his hands on his thighs. His eyes are closed and he breathes slowly and deeply. Stars streak by out the viewports. The only light in the room comes from six flickering candles on the ancestral shrine at the front of his room. A small bowl of burning incense wafts thin smoke in front of him. A small cup of green tea sits beside him. Shadows flicker mysteriously across his face, and the gentle twang of a shimasen is heard in the background.

Nikkori slowly rises from the tatami mat, leaving his tea-cup. He removes his happi coat and puts on his uniform. He steps off the mat, bows to the ancestral shrine at the end of his room and slips his feet into his boots.

"Computaa," The computer chirps quietly. "Mado o tojite kudasai." The shades on the windows slide shut as Nikkori exits his quarters.

Walking down the hall, he passes Lt. Buzzkill. Nikkori smiles broadly and nods as Buzzkill immediately begins concentrating hard on his PADD.

He steps into the turbolift. "Funabashi...." The computer chirps and minutes later Nikkori steps to the bridge.

Taking his station, he begins working on a little project between him and Lt. Akiko Shimehara, a bright AI expert in the sciences division. As he sits, a quick flash of light illuminates his right eye as it scans his retina.

"Computaa, baiofeedobaku kiken o onegaishimasu." Nikkori leans back in his chair, watching the console in front of him. He watches the console for a few minutes as its touchpads and indicators change, though he does not touch them. In a few minutes, he produces a blindfold from his pocket and puts it on. The indicators and buttons continue to function as though operated by a trained communications officer. Nikkori rises and - still wearing the blindfold - leaves the bridge, strolling casually about the Elusive.

Nikkori stood at his tactical station looking at the viewscreen. The admiral was kind enough to afford him an hour of simulation time to test the biometric neural interface that he and Lt. Akiko Shimehara had been working on for some time. Nurse Ratchet was there as well watching her tricorder as Nikkori worked – or rather appeared NOT to be working.

A simulated very dense asteroid field was projected on the forward viewscreen. The simulation was more of a game really. The object – navigate to the center of the asteroid field and beam out the ten survivors of a freighter crash before three Romulan warbirds got there – or to the vessel – first. In this simulation, the Elusive was modified so as not to be cloaked, thus giving it a disadvantage against the warbirds. Akiko watched her

PADD as Nikkori appeared to be concentrating – sometimes closing his eyes for several seconds. As the simulated Elusive entered the field, its phasers lanced out in several directions, vaporizing many of the smaller asteroids in its path. It moved forward, banking hard to port and executing a barrel roll about an asteroid skimming between its warp nacelles. Nikkori spoke to the ladies standing beside him.

“Sensors habe located the stranded bessel. Zero point 86 AU, fifteen degrees mark fibe. Romulan warbirds detected at 35 degrees mark twelbe, forty degrees mark 15, and 70 degrees mark nine-two….. two approaching the bessel, one on an intercept course. Raising shields. Increasing speed to zero point 35 impulse.” Nikkori continued his report as Akiko and Nurse Ratchet nodded approvingly at their PADDs.

The Elusive rotated 180 degrees and dove sharply. Some members of the shift crew turned away from the viewscreen as their eyes tricked them into motion sickness.

“Preparing for emergency transport.” Nikkori spoke as the approaching warbird shimmered into a cloak on the screen. Several photon torpedoes were ejected from the Elusive and fanned out to where the warbird was. One struck an asteroid, many missed, but one found its mark. Immediately, the Elusives phasers targeted and lanced out at the explosion. Arcing violently, with flames shooting from its dorsal section, the warbird turned into a retreat.

“Within tractor beam range; lowering shields.” The two warbirds began firing on the surface of a large asteroid. “Surbibing crew transported successfully.” The warbirds began approaching the Elusive, as she performed a split-S – her phasers taking out several asteroids in the process. As the warbirds approached, they shimmered out of sight when their cloaks activated. A volley of eight photon torpedos sprayed out of the Elusive’s stern, all aimed at a very large asteroid in her wake. The surface of the asteroid erupted into a spray of rocks, which electrified the shields of one of the nearby warbirds. Immediately, the Elusive’s phasers targeted at shot, slowing the warbird down.

Leaving the asteroid field, the Elusive immediately sprung to warp speed, narrowly missed by a volley of torpedos from the remaining warbird.

“Simulation complete.” Akiko said quietly. Akiko and Nikkori both looked at Ratchet.

“Well,” she said, “the only change I noticed was that you appeared to be concentrating – you could have been playing chess for all I knew.”

“It would appear then” Nikkori began, “that the neural interface works. I beliebe we should present our results to the Admiral and request a shuttlecraft for testing on an actual bessel. Thank you for your time Nurse Ratchet.”

“Well, I’m just happy you didn’t end up bleeding this time.” Nurse Ratchet smiled and left. Nikkori nodded to Ensign O’Hornery, the tactical crewmember on his staff as he entered the bridge for his shift. He then walked into the turbo-lift with Akiko.

“Ishoni, bangohan o tabetia desu ka.” Nikkori asked.

“Hai! Ikimashoo!” Akiko smiled and the two went to the galley together.

Stepping into the turbolift Fenriz told the computer his destination as the door closed behind him "Launch bay four." While the lift made it's way to the launch bay, Fenriz took the time to read over a few reports on the PADD he had with him. The first report he brought up was on the latest test of the biometric neural interface project. The biometric neural interface was an idea that scientists at Starfleet Research and Development had been tinkering with for some time but until now no one had been able to get the problem of having a computer correctly interpret commands sent from a living mind and then act on them without an unacceptable amount of lag time. On board the Elusive the interface's development was progressing faster than anyone anticipated, Fenriz wasn't surprised. Having met Lt. Nikkori when he was first assigned to the Elusive/HT project Fenriz was amazed at the man's ability to solve complex problems. "If we can equip the pilots of the Evaders with interfaces, they'll be a nasty surprise for someone." Fenriz thought as he read the report. Tapping his approval on the PADD he exited the turbolift at launch bay four.

After that "talk" with my so called father-inlaw i had dificultie with my consentrate on my daily functions, i even droped to much duthrium in de warpcoremixechamber, that coused allmost a core overloade, and yesterday when i was in charge of the Transporters i almost beamed someone into space, i didn,t pay to much attention at the destinationcoordenates.

Damn why is that man so stubborn, may when we get back to earth sometime ill have a talk with him face to face but for now i have to keep calm and get focused back on the Job.

Maybe a game of Fencing on the Holodeck will cleare my mind.

I went back to my quarters, when i got in i saw Seska still sleeping, she had been crying all night, but finaly went to sleep,

I opend a cuboard and took out my Fencing gear and went to Holodeck3

I activated Programm "ILS 2-alfa" and when the computer told me the program is ready and running i Entert.

Nikkori, Akiko, and Nurse Ratchet stand in the shuttlecraft bay before the

Evader class craft as it is prepped for launch. A few of the engineering crew perform checks on the systems. The craft has been modified slightly – it’s windows are now opaque and her pilot console readouts have been deactivated. Nikkori would by flying blind, deaf, and dumb. As well, a modified Mark V torpedo tube casing has been affixed to the hull just above the port nacelle.

As Nurse Ratchet affixes a probe to Nikkori’s right arm, an engineering ensign approaches.

“Sir,” he says crisply, “the craft is ready, and the drone has been affixed. To release it you just – “ Nikkori stops him by holding up his hand.

“Bery good, ensign. Let me figure out how to release the drone.”

“Yes, sir!” The ensign runs back to the craft.

“Well…” Nurse Ratchet says, “Don’t go getting yourself killed!”

“Thank you for your concern, Ratchet-san.” Nikkori says. “Lt. Shimehara will monitor

craft systems remotely, and conbey reports to you….. It is grateful that the Elusive has pulled out of warp long enough to allow such a test.” Nikkori nods slightly to Akiko

Shimehara, who smiles self-consciously at him.

The door to the craft opens, revealing an unusually black interior. Two engineers enter with lights. Nikkori enters the craft, and the engineers wait while he straps himself in. The engineers leave the craft and stand beside Lt. Shimehara and the Nurse. They watch as the door to the craft closes. The deck officers voice can be heard over the intercom.

“Launch sequence requested. Opening shuttlebay doors.” The klaxon sounds as the wide doors ahead of the craft slide open revealing the vast, cold vacuum of space dotted with many shimmering stars.

The shuttlecraft rises and follows the landing bay lights to the exit where it crosses the containment field and leaves its mothership. At that point, it surges forward in a glowing streak. Passing out 5 kilometers, it spins sharply and drives hard to the Elusive. It spirals quickly about the Elusive’s starboard nacelle, and skims effortlessly over her saucer section, where it then dives straight “down.”

“Can the craft take that?” Ratchet asks.

“Inertial dampeners holding…” Shimehara reports.

The shuttle thrusts aft of the Elusive where it is put into an end-over-end spin, toppling like a thrown toy. Shimehara examines her PADD as the engineers gasp.

“Do not worry.” She says. “He did that on purpose.” On queue, the craft pulls effortlessly out the spin. Ten kilometers from the Elusive, the shuttle comes about. At that point, the torpedo tube casing is released. Both craft fly in a synchronized pattern, spiraling about each other as they return to the Elusive. At one kilometer, the tube casing shoots upwards while the craft dives. Both perform a long sweeping loop and approach each other head on, where they narrowly miss. The shuttle comes about.

“Mark V control released. Converting to attack mode.” Shimehara says, touching a control on her PADD. At that point, the torpedo swept about and reverted into a collision course directly for the shuttle, which sat strangely still aft of the Elusive. As the torpedo approached, the shuttle went to a rapid tailspin and edged quickly out the way of the torpedo, which came about for another pass.

“They can do that?” The engineer gasped wide eyed.

“The pilot can do that.” Shimehara corrected him.

As the torpedo approached, the shuttlecraft rolled sharply and dove into a split-S, coming side-on towards the torpedo, where it then reversed roles, and began tracking the torpedo. After several seconds, the torpedo’s program ended, and it came to a stop in space, conceding defeat.

The shuttle returned to the Elusive, where it righted itself, and pivoted as it approached the bay doors, coming to a gentle landing exactly where it started. It’s doors opened, and Nikkori exited smiling.

“No problems here.” Ratchet said as she scanned her PADD. The engineers rushed to the shuttle to examine it and Nikkori and Akiko spoke for several minutes.

“Thank you doctor.” Nikkori said. He and Shimehara left the shuttle bay together.

On the bridge of the Elusive, Admiral Jeanway and the crew watched on the viewscreen as Nikkori engaged in the interface test run. "Wonderful!" Jeanway exclaimed as she watched the show. After the Evader was back in the shuttlebay on the HT 01, she taps her com-badge "How'd it go?" Nikkori replied in Japanese. "Damn it, is that UT still offline?" She said. "Could you please speak English Nikkori?" She asked him. "Sowwy." He answered.

Jeanway then says " Computer? Would you run a level one diagnostic on the Universal Translator?" Computer replies " Level one diagnostic complete." Jeanway asks. " Any problems?" Computer answers. " The Universal Translator is functioning within acceptable parameters."

Nikkori is kneeling on the tatami mat facing the large window as the stars streak by when he receives the Admiral's communication. Akiko kneels on the mat about one meter away facing a point halfway between the viewport and Nikkori. A small tray of green tea sits between the two, as the light from the lit lanterns flicker off their faces.

"Thank you for your interests, Admiral Jeanway-sama. It would appear that the neural interface is successful. We were able to overcome the lag time using existing transporter technology and alpha wave feedback monitoring debices with passive resonant synaptic monitors. In this sense, the computer becomes a literal extension of the controller. In this way, the user does not have to consciously think of his actions; he simply does them. In the case of the shuttle, I do not have to think, "Fly up." I just do it. It is no different than raising your arm, blinking, talking, or anything. The same is true for sensors. The user can "see" what the sensor sense. There are no ill effects if the debice is deactibated during a connection; the user simply ceases to control it, like dropping a sword that you are swinging. As you can tell, the debice was able to be used to control multiple bessels. With some work, remote control is also possible."

After the report, Nikkori and Akiko take a sip of tea.

"Tanoshkata ne....." Nik says lowly.

Akiko grins slightly. "Hai!" She agrees

They continue to look at the stars streak by, and engage in a relaxed, whispered conversation.

The Evader hangs motionless in the midst of the asteroid field. With all of it's systems powered down to their minimal levels it drifts like just another rock. Watching the display that the neural interface projected into his mind Fenriz tracked the starship that slowly made it's way through the asteroid field as it hunted him. Using the small ship's maneuverability and speed to it's maximum potential he had managed to elude the starship's weapons fire as it had been forced to target the Evader manually it lured it's pursuer deeper into the field. Fenriz wasn't sure when he flew the tiny ship out of the launch bay if it's hull would actually disrupt a ship's sensors like the engineers said it would. "I'll have to buy the designers a round of synthahol." he thought to himself. The hunting starship moved like a lumbering giant through the asteroids, vaporizing those that were in the way while scanning vainly for it's prey. Fenriz smiled to himself as it passed his position and continued moving further into the field. Without having to open a channel on his console he spoke his command out loud to the rest of the Evader squadron that were also floating quietly around him, the interface instantly opened a secure channel to all of the other Evaders. "Alpha squadron, power up and engage. Target weapons and engines only." he commanded. All of the other ships in his squadron answered affirmative and shot off towards their target. Taking the lead position Fenriz locked all his weapons on the starship's aft torpedo launcher with a thought, targeting data flew across his eyes projected there by the neural interface. In his mind he could see the distance falling away until he reached optimal firing distance. The much larger starship's sensors couldn't distinguish the Evaders from the rocks floating around them until it was too late. On the first pass the Evaders disabled it's weapons and it began moving out of the asteroid field so that it could engage it's warp engines. It was overtaken by the tiny ships who on their second attack run took out it's engines and was left floating dead in space. Opening a channel to the starship with the interface as if he was talking to someone sitting next to him Fenriz spoke to the crippled ship's captain, "This is Captain Fenriz to the USS Congo. You are ordered to stand down, I believe we won this engagement Captain." In front of his eyes, or more accurately in his mind he saw the face of his opponent. "Damn you Fen, those little ships of yours are nasty. My tactical officer couldn't lock on any of them, we were firing blind. I owe you a bottle of Romulan ale." Captain Nash, of the USS Congo conceded. "That you do Bill, I'll see you at the debriefing. Fenriz out." the channel closed as instantly as it had opened. As the Congo restored power to it's systems it's computer had taken offline to simulate battle damage the Evaders formed up and headed back to their launch bay onboard the HT 01.
