A slow precession comes from the pier. At the head of the line is Nikkori. He wears his black armor, which has been shined to a luster. He carries his helmet under his right arm, and his face is solemn. Beside him walks the fat Chinese man he was fighting yesterday. He wears black robes with gold embroidered writing down the lapel. He carries a vase of salt, which he slowly scatters along their path as they walk. Eight stretchers are carried behind Nikkori and his friend, each by the remaining sixteen crew members of the Kongou Maru. The figures on the stretchers are covered in black cloths, and their swords rest upon them. Some of the crew wear their armor and carry their helmets in their free arms. Some are dressed in black robes similar to that of the Chinese man. The precession walks slowly and silently through the town, followed by some of the townsfolk. As they pass through the streets, several of those going about their business stop and bow low to the honored warriors and new friends; some clapping their hands together twice as they do so.

The precession disappears slowly into a grove of trees outside of town.

~~ A New Arrival ~~

Jeanway, Fenriz, Riker and Worf returned to the Elusive after the meeting ended. ILikeSeven and Seska, the Leftenants BraceGirdle and PearlMutter to the Batavia, which was docked next to her at the pier. It was twilight and the harbour began to light up from lanterns form the hunderds of ships in the harbour. Torches blazed around the piers and on the playa surrounding the town and harbour. The crews settled in for the night and went to sleep.

At first light, the sounds of two voices could be heard yelling and screaming at each other aboard the Batavia. It awoke those on the ships around her. The sounds of metal objects being thrown and resulting howls of pain. Seska appeared on the deck and quickly made her way up to the gangplank of the Elusive, which she ran up, holding up her skirts then quickly to the cabin of her sister. Tap, tap, on the door. "Enter" Jeanway said sleepily. Seska entered and descended upon Jeanway in a flood of tears. " I told him" She said. " Oh" Jeanway answered. " He says it's HeadBorg's." " OH MY" Jeanway answered as she held Seska in her arms, comforting her. " I told him nothing happened yet he doesn't believe me." Seska bellowed in Jeanways ear. " Aye" Jeanway answered. " I understand now."

A loud series of bangs came upon the cabin door. " Seska, Seska, you in there?" ILikeSeven yelled through the door. Seska stopped crying and looked at Jeanway, then at the door. " He wants to kill me, I fear, and you know his temper!" She said fearfully. " Let him in." Jeanway said. " We'll talk about this and see if we can reach some sort of solution." Seska opened the door and ILikeSeven stood in the passageway for a moment then stepped inside. From the expression on Jeanway's face he knew she had known about this for a while. " You knew and said nothing?" He asked her. " Aye, ILS, but it wasn't me place to interfere in such matters. What could I have done or said. It's a matter between you and Seska." ILikeSeven seemed to calm down a bit now and sat in the chair. " I understand your not belivin that tha last night on Borabora, nothin happened between HeadBorg and Seska, he threw her out the porthole. How do ya think she ended up in the water, fully clothed?" " Aye" IlikeSeven said as he looked down at the floor. " We can get HeadBorg ova here right now and he can tell ya himself." " No, I'm being pig-headed about this, of course it's me baby she's carryin." He looked at Seska and Seska looked at him, they fell into each other's arm and kissed. amid a flurry of crying and kissin, ILikeSeven said to Jeanway " Can ya marry us?" He looked at Seska, she nodded affirmatively and cried " Yes, yes, yes, today, right now, I'll marry ya, ya big galloot." They kissed again.

Jeanway knew she had to get ILikeSeven free of the rum before the baby came and that's why she took him into her care with Worf, to dry him out.

Jeanway rushed to Fenriz's cabin, tapped on the door and Fenriz opened it. " Come on." She told him " What is it love?" Jeanway answered. " We got a marrying to do." "HUH?" He answered as he pulled on his boots. The both hurredly returned to Jeanway's cabin. Jeanway opened the door, Fenriz looked inside to see ILikeSeven and Seska in the corner berth { XXX Rated, Sorry } Jeanway shut the door and gave them a few moments. Jeanway said. " Wait here, I'll be right back." She ran to the galley. " Lwxana, come with me, I need you." Jeanway said. " Aye Ma'am, what is it? Am I in trouble?" She asked. " No, we be needin a maid of honor, there's goin ta be a marryin." After a few moments there were no noises coming from the cabin. Fenriz knocked. "Come in, we be descent now." ILikeseven answered. They opened the door, Jeanway, Fenriz and Lwxana entered. " I got your witnesses, all we need ta do now is tha deed. Ya ready?" "Aye" They both answered as they smoothed their hair and clothes.

Jeanway went to her desk and pulled a small black book from the middle drawer. She flipped through the pages and finally finding the right page said. " Here it is, tha marriage vows." She stood in the center of the room, ILikeSeven and Seska stood in front of her. Lwxana stood beside Seska and Fenriz stood next to ILikeSeven. Jeanway began. " We are gathered here, in the sight of God and these witnesses to join these two in Holy matrimony." She began. As the ceremony progressed and she got to the part about exchanging rings. Everyone stopped and looked at ILS. " Do ya have rings?" Jeanway asked ILS. " Well a course not, I had no time fer plannin, ya know that." ILikeSeven answered. " Here" Fenriz said as he pulled off his and gave it to ILkeSeven, Jeanway did the same and gave hers to Seska. Everyone laughed and the ceremony continued. After the I dos were said and everyone kissed everyone and Seska cried, ILikeSeven said to Fenriz. " I'll get us both rings taday in tha town here. I'll get this back to ya taday me friend." As he patted him on the back.

After ILikeSeven and Seska returned the Batavia, Jeanway went to find Worf. He was eating in the mess and Jeanway joined him at his table and began. " We need ya to escort tha Doc around while we are here in port. Don't let him outa yur sight. There be ships loaded down with opium here and we don't need THAT ta be startin up agin now do we?" " Aye, Ma'am, I understand." Worf answered sadly. He thought that little business was over with. "Na" Jeanway continued. " Nikkama told me he'll be in it's grip for a while yet, we need ta watch him." Worf slurpped his coffee and nodded. " Consider it done Ma'am."

Jeanway returned to her cabin where Fenriz was waiting for her. She came in, found her Certificates of Trade and Eligability and the leather pact Sir Bowring had given her. "We be needin some daimonds to exchange at the banker, a place called, let me see here, ah, here it is, Bouverie and Company." They pulled the desk away from the wall and Jeanway unlocked the small door. She went into the compartment and emerged with a satin pouch weighted down with the large diamonds. " We be needin pound sterling to trade with the merchants here." They both left the cabin and debarked the ship.

Once the conversion was done, they set out with a list of goods and supplies they needed. " A list?" Asked fenriz. "I'm not so good followin a LIST." He said to Jeanway with a worried look on his face. "It' fine, I'll be accompanying ya this time Love, no chance ya be messin this one up on me." They both laughed as they walked through the town.

They noticed, high above the town a hill with a larged cross atop a pile of stone there. They wanted to get a better look so they made their way towards it. After what seemed hours of climbing they finally came upon it. A great ruined wall, on a misty hill-top. There it stood, the great cross they could see from the ship as they entered the harbour the day before. Birds were nesting in it and in the gargoyles around it. It appeared to have once been a great structure, perhaps a church that had crumbelled around it and left only part of the wall and it's cross standing.

Back down in the town they made their way through. Buying chicken and quail and having it taken in cages to the ship. A purchase of cattle also being driven through the town was taken to the ship. Great bags of rice and potatoes and other vegetables easily kept for months at Sea. Sugar, flour, corn meal, eggs, tea, coffee and great vessels of fresh milk and cream tp make butter. Large baskets and crates of fresh native fruits, every kind of spice available, all to be delivered to the ship. After a full day, it was nearing dusk when they finally returned. The cattle were hearded down onto the pier and were being hoisted one by one in a sling and down into the manger in the hold. Barrels of fresh water also being hoisted aboard with the winch. Riker and the crew were doing a fine job, Lwxana happily help carry the smaller crates to the storeroom next to the galley. Jeanway and Fenriz talked about visiting the other docked ships on the pier the following day then Fenriz retired to his cabin after eating together in her quarters.

The sound of Peacocks calling to each other awoke Jeanway. She dressed then went up on the deck and looked at the town. The climate was exquisite affording a magnificent view from the Sea and the harbour. The Bay was bordered by the Playa Grande and the stately factories of the East India Company along with other foreign residences, the government houses, and the small fort of San Pedro which old Cantoners chose for their residence.

The harbour like a forest of masts bustled with activity even at this early hour. Fenriz joined her on the stern and they sat and talked about their plans for the day.

Fenriz and Jeanway sat and discussed the ships in the harbour, having recieved a list from Capt. Braga of the Nemesis and what all could be purchased. "We should discuss the need for cloth for bandages with DocNiel, he may be low after tending to the crew of the Kongau Maru, also we are in need of ammunitions, gunpowder and the like. There is a whaleship we also need oil for our lamps." Jeanway said to Fenriz.

While Jeanway and Fenriz discussed the resupply of the Elusive they made their way down to her cabin. On her table were log books and records of the ship's stores, she opened the record and began to look it over. Fenriz sat down across from her and she passed him a piece of paper and a quill. "Write this down," she began, "I don't want you to forget anything." Jeanway began to list the supplies that the ship still needed and Fenriz wrote them down. "...and some oil for the lanterns, we're getting low. You can probably find a whaler or two in port that's ready to trade. Take Worf with you, he could use a break from guarding the Doc." she finished. Fenriz folded the paper and put it in one of his jacket pockets. "Take care of this for me Love, I'm so behind on my ship's logs it will take me all day to get caught up." Jeanway said. Getting to his feet Fenriz went over to her side and kissed her and then walked to the door. "Consider it done, Love. You just let me and Worf take care of this for ya." Blowing her a kiss before he closed the door, Fenriz saw she was already dipping her quill in ink and then began to write in her log.

Fenriz found Worf in the Sickbay. The Doc was treating a sailor who had somehow injured himself while the Klingon sat in a chair in the corner and watched silently. Observing the surgeon's handwork was the grey-haired healer from the Kongou Maru. Noticing Fenriz enter the room, Doc Niel nodded at him. "Good day to you Fen, my lad. Just showin' my associate here around the ship. This man was needin' a stitch or two to fix his hand, bashed it good between a couple o' crates in the hold." With that the Doc roughly twisted the man's hand causing him to cry out. "That hurt then lad?" Doc Niel asked. Fenriz watched him, "I'm taking Worf with me to get some more supplies Doc, can you be trusted alone?" Fenriz asked. "Aye, I'll just be showin' my colleague here around and sharin' some secrets o' the trade with him." he answered. Fenriz considered this for a moment and then spoke to the injured sailor, "You, what's your name?" Gulping quickly the man answered "Uh, Barclay Sir, Reg Barclay." "Well Reg, since you're a wounded man I'll give you some light duty, you watch the Doc here and keep him away from the laudanum. If he gives you any trouble you run and fetch Lt. Riker or Lt Chakotay quick, understand?" Fenriz told him. "Y-Yes Sir." the man stammered. Slapping the man on the back Fenriz turned and left the room with Worf following. As the pair ascended the rises to the deck Fenriz fished around inside of his jacket for something. Walking down the gangplank to the pier he pulled the list from his pocket. "What is that?" Worf asked. "A list, so I don't forget what I'm to get." Fenriz saw the Klingon looking at him with raised eyebrows and then continued, "Bah! I don't need a list, I can chart my way from the Azores to Bermuda with my eyes closed. I can remember what supplies a ship will be needing." he declared, and with that he tossed the paper over his shoulder. Walking just a pace behind him Worf plucked the list out of the breeze and put it in his jacket, then stepped quickly to catch up with his friend as they headed off on their errand.

Fenriz and Worf made their way along the pier which were a frenzy of activity, workers were loading and unloading ships, sailors came and went, and merchants haggled among themselves with everyone. "I know the Elusive needs oil for her lamps, I burned the dregs in the mine last night, let's find that whaler Jeanway mentioned, the Horizon." Fenriz decided. "The Harvest." Worf corrected. "That's the one." Fenriz replied while he stood on the dock for a moment, pressing his finger to his lips. "It's that way." directed Worf after a few seconds, pointing to their right. Nearing the ship, they began asking around for someone in charge. After several sailors pointed them to the ship's captain they ascended the gangplank to the ship's deck, where they found the man arguing with a short, round merchant who spoke what sounded like Spanish to Fenriz's ears. Seeing the pair approach, the captain waved the Spaniard away and greeted them. "Hello friends, welcome aboard my ship, the Harvest she's named, 8 months out of Nantucket. She has a full hold and I be lookin' to sell." Fenriz smiled at the man and shook his hand, "That's good to hear Captain, they call me Fenriz and this is Worf. Officers on the USS Elusive and we're looking to buy some oil." The Captain's eyes lit up at the prospect of business and he steered the conversation towards what he wanted to find out, the payment. "Well I'll sell you as much as you can afford, you want to trade or buy?" At the word buy he licked his lips, like a starving man sat in front of a feast. Fenriz took his time and idly asked him questions. How long in port was the Harvest? When were they planning on setting sail again? What part of the world had the calmest seas? As this small-talk went on Fenriz made a show of taking a leather purse from out of his jacket and began to count the money inside, when he was sure that his host's patience was wearing thin he asked, "I can offer you cash for the oil, say twenty cents a gallon?" By now the Harvest's captain was eager to be done with this boring conversation and get back to his business so he agreed without realizing that he had been offered a ridiculously low price. Not letting the man reconsider Fenriz grabbed the bill of sale the man had been making out while his costumer droned on . "Deal, nice doing business with you Captain, Sir. We'll have someone come by and pick it up later today or tomorrow." With that Fenriz shook his hand and he and Worf left the Harvest and continued their shopping trip.

After a short while Fenriz and Worf suddenly came upon a small crowd. Interested in the commotion they muscled their way through the crowd until they reached the front. Standing on the pier was a giant of a man holding a boy by the leg over the water, shaking him every now and then. "Admit it you little rat, you picked me pocket. Gimme what's mine or I'll throw you to the fishes." the man growled. Fenriz groaned when he recognized the boy as Thomas, he groaned again when he saw that Thomas' partner in crime, Pip was moving through the crowd, taking the distraction as an opportunity to pick more pockets. Fenriz elbowed Worf who moved off to intercept the powder monkey, while Fenriz steeped out of the crowd, "Here now, what's that little thief gone and done now? Still a pup and already as dishonest as the devil's own kin." he said as he walked up to the enraged man. "He robbed you too, did he? I reckon the Admiral will have you face the lash this time boy, you been warned before." Fenriz added, shaking his head to add to the show. A look of concern came over the giant's face, he tossed Thomas on the pier and looked at Fenriz "You tellin' me this admiral o' yers will take a lash to a small lad, like this one here?" he asked. Fenriz looked him right in the eye and answered. "I'm afraid so, he's been warned. The Admiral will have his hide tanned when you tell her what happened." Now the big man looked absolutely in shock, he knew a captain's discipline could be harsh, what is an admiral's like. Fenriz could see all of this going on in the man's head so he jumped in, "I suppose if you forgot this happened I wouldn't have to say anything to the Admiral about it." Fenriz offered. The man jumped on this at once, "Yeah, I won't say nuthin', just a few coins is all he got anyways. Nuthin' worth a lashin'" Fenriz pulled the powder monkey up by his collar as Worf dragged Pip over. Fenriz looked the two of them over, "I suppose you two, ahem...businessmen?, had better stay with Worf and me." Fenriz said, "Besides we can use a couple of gophers. Pip, you run off to the Elusive and tell them to send some men to fetch the oil we bought from the Harvest, and hurry back. Quick now boy, a dollar if you move fast enough." That sent the boy off running as fast as his legs could go. "Now, Worf what were we looking for next? Lard wasn't it?" Fenriz asked. "No, Gunpowder." Worf corrected. "That's it, gunpowder." Fenriz said as they continued on their quest.

Thomas and Pip found Jeanway on the deck of the Elusive. " Thar be oil acomin Ma'am, no I means we gots to go fetch it from that ship over thar Ma'am. Fenriz done paid for it and it's just awaiting for us to go get it." Thomas pointed across the harbour to the Harvest. " Aye, good lad ya are Thomas." She said as she patted him on the head. " Go get four of tha crew to lower a boat and they can start bringin it ova." "Aye Ma'am, right away." Thomas ran to the stern and told the group of sailors standing around to hop to it. They immediately lowered a boat and began to row across the bay towards the Harvest. Jeanway then ordered the winch and pulley set up to be ready when they came back with the large barrels of whale oil.

Fenriz and Worf stopped a man wearing what appeared to be some kind of an official seal on his jacket. "Excuse me Sir, but we need to purchase some powder. Could you tell me where in this town I might find some?" Fenriz asked. "Ah, powder eh? You asked the right man." the stranger began, his voice thick with some accent Fenriz couldn't identify. "I am Maximilian Paolo, third assistant harbor master of Macao." he continued, trying his best to look important. Fenriz let him continue, appearing as impressed as he could. "My brother, Alfonso, makes the best powder in Asia." As if on cue an explosion went off several blocks inland and a singed bucket landed at Maximilian's feet. Kicking it aside he explained, "That's him now. He's always experimenting, making his powder more powerful, you understand? Come with me, I take you there and get you a discount." Maximillian led them into the town, Fenriz followed him, and Worf looked back at the smoldering thing that used to be a bucket.

Maximilian Paolo led Fenriz and Worf down a winding street and then turned into a narrow alleyway. They continued until Maximilian stopped in front of a wooden door, painted bright red with the words "Lucius Mung, Fishmonger" written on it. Worf looked at Fenriz who cleared his throat. "Here we are, I don't know why my brother hasn't repainted this door yet. He's so paranoid, thinks someone is going to steal his secrets." Maximilian explained. With that he shrugged, stepped up to the door and knocked quickly twice, followed by three more knocks. "Who is it?" someone inside answered. "Maximilian, I've brought some customers, open the door." Maximilian answered. "How do I know it's you? What's the password?" the voice asked. "Just open the door, or I'll tell my brother you've been sneaking away to the brothel when he sends you to fetch more sulfur." Maximilian threatened, this brought a pause and then the door was opened. Maximilian pushed it open and knocked aside it's guard, "Out of the way, Nobel, you idiot. Why my brother employs you I have no idea. Where is Alfonso anyway?" Before the befuddled Nobel could answer they pushed past him and into the courtyard beyond. They arrived just in time to see a large stack of wooden crates explode.

Jeanway seeing Fenriz and Worf leave the pier then disappear into the crowd stood there and watched from high atop the bow, just over the figure-head, resting her hand on its painted golden hair. A series of explosions on the edge of town peaked her interest and she squinted her eyes to make out the identities of the three men she saw running from some smouldering object that came flying through the air, almost hitting them. " Idiots" She said to herself. "I should have gone myself, he'll get himself and Worf blown-up."

The Kongou Maru has now been cleared of her honored dead, and the crew works meticulously on her repairs. A pile of freshly milled planks sits on the pier, and three of her crewmembers hang over the edge repairing the burned sections. A man wearing nothing but a loincloth in the hot sun painstakingly brushes the dragon winding about her hull - scraping and polishing as he works. A new stern mast is being installed as six crewmen slowly guide it into place. Pulleys have been erected on her cetnral mast and yardarms, and several horses on the pier help to move the mast into place. Beside the pile of lumber on the pier, two shirtless crewmen in black pantaloons pile and count fireworks. The old herbalist examines each one - sniffing it slightly, examining the wick, and looking up the shaft of each of the missiles. A few crates and some large bundles of sheets for the sails also rest. Beside that, Nikkori stands, still in his lacquered armor with his katana and wakazashi girded at his side. He speaks animatedely with a tall, thin Portugese man in a black suit and wearing a monocle, and carrying a black cane with a gold knob at the top. His greying head is covered in a black derby, and he sports a grey goattee. Both gesture as they speak, and Nikkori gestures to the piles of lumber and firebrands. Nikkori reaches into a barrel beside him, and pulls out a perfect, ripe orange and holds it up for the tall man to see. The man waves his hand at Nikkori and laughs. Nikkori frowns briefly, and the

exchange continues. After several minutes of talking and gesturing, Nikkori finally reaches deeper into the barrel, moving several oranges aside as he does so. He pulls

out an exceptionally large diamond, and shows the Portugese man, whose eyes go wide. He holds the diamond close to his face. Pulling a loupe from his pocket, he examines it carefully.

Nikkori stands with his face solid and his arms crossed as the Portugese man examines the crystal.

The tall man smiles, places the diamond in his pocket, and reaches out to shake the smaller samurai's hand. Nikkori grasps his hand briefly and then bows shallowly several times as the tall man in black tips his hat and turns to the shore. He motions to several deckhands, who rush to his side. After a few brief words as he walks to shore, the deckhands begin loading the provisions on the Kongou Maru, while some assist with the movement of lumber and the repair of the vessel.

The repairs of the Kongou Maru continue throughout the hot afternoon sun. Her crew works tirelessly with the help of the deckhands. The deckhands whistle happily, while the crew chants eerie melodies as they work.

Smoke and dust filled the courtyard following the explosion making Fenriz and Worf cough, Maximilian was unconcerned and began to shout, "Alfonso, where are you? Alfonso." As a gentle breeze cleared the courtyard a man wearing an apron came out from behind a low wall on the other side of the courtyard. He was followed by several eager men, a short one who walked beside him was writing in a notebook as the first man gave instructions. Stepping over pieces of debris he reached the three who had arrived and hugged Maximilian. "Brother, good to see you again. New customers?" he asked while he pulled a cigar out of his pocket and clamped it between his teeth. "Yes, they need some powder. I see your latest batch is almost ready." Maximilian answered. "Still needs tweaking, all of this should have been disintegrated." he replied, kicking at a few bits of wreckage. Alfonso Paolo shook Fenriz and Worf's hands then began feeling around in his pockets for something. "Damn, you, Nobel come here." he commanded, "Gimme a match." The guard, Nobel, fumbled around with the match for a moment before Alfonso snatched it away from him. "Gimme that, idiot. Why I keep you around I don't know. Go back to your stool and watch the door." Alfonso growled, kicking Nobel in the seat of his pants as he scurried off. Turning to his customers he apologized, "Forgive me, I don't know why I employ him. The lack-wit knows nothing about explosives." he explained as he lit his cigar and then tossed the still burning match over his shoulder into an open barrel of gunpowder. His assistant dove for the ground just as the barrel exploded. Alfonso Paolo appeared unfazed and pulled his assistant up by the collar. Dragging the shivering man along he motioned for his guests to follow him. "How much powder do you need?" he asked. Fenriz dusted off his jacket as he answered, "Quite a lot, the Elusive has more than a few guns." The powder maker stopped and puffed at his cigar for a moment then smiled broadly, "Good, I'll sell you all you can afford. I take cash only, understand?" Now Fenriz smiled at him, "Will pounds sterling be acceptable?" Alfonso grabbed his hand and shook it firmly. "That will be excellent." he answered. "Someone will be by later to take delivery." Fenriz said. With that they shook hands again and Fenriz and Worf left. "What's next Worf?" Fenriz asked as they made their way out of the alley. "Cannonballs and shot." Worf answered. "Good, let's get to it then. Where are Pip and Thomas?" Fenriz asked as the pair made their way down a busy street in Macao.

The afternoon wears on. Jeanway holding a list bustles down the pier to the 'Citizen'. " I need some unmentionables." She thinks as she smiles to herself. A Captain Lothar Worthington greets her at the rail as she ascends the gangplank. " Aftanoon Ma'am." He says to her. " It's Admiral Jeanway, if you please Sir, from the American ship 'Elusive'." She extends her hand, Captain Worthington extends his and they shake hands. " What can I interest ya in taday Ma'am, I mean Admiral Jeanway?" " Ah, here, look at this list and tell me what ya have, then we can do some business, Aye?" He take the list and looks at it. " Yes, Admiral, I can help ya with everything on here. " Marvelous." She answered. Captain Worthington escorts Jeanway to the stern of the ship where many crates have been stacked, some with the lids off and sitting on the deck in the sun. " So much cargo for such a small ship." She comments. "Aye, but were bigger than we look, we have more space inside than we have outside." Jeanway looked at him, puzzeled. " How can that be Sir?" She asked. " Just a little design tweek I've been workin on." He answered, then he chuckled to himself. " You just look around, take your time." He told her. He left her and walked back to the stern where Fenriz and Worf were just coming up the gangplank. " Can I help ya gentlemen?" He asked as they approached him. " Aye, I'm Captain Fenriz and this is Leftenant Worf of tha 'Elusive'." Fenriz said. Jeanway catching sight of them quickly hides behide a stack of crates. Captain Worthington chats for a moment with them, then escorts them both below deck to the hold.

Fenriz shook Captain Worthington's hand "I understand you have a fine assortment of clothing on your ship Captain, would that include women's clothes?" Fenriz asked. "Most certainly, may I take you below and show you some of my goods?" Worthington offered. Captain Worthington led Fenriz down the rises, "Come on Worf, I might need your opinion." Fenriz said. "What do I know about women's clothes?" Worf protested. "Riker says you have an eye for fashion, come on." Fenriz explained. Worf spotted Jeanway hiding behind some crates on the deck and looked to her for help, she put her finger to her lips and motioned for him to keep silent, and the Klingon went below deck, grumbling.

" AHH, this is nice." Jeanway said as she lifted a satin pillow from a crate. " He will love this." The satin pillow, a pale sky blue, was embroidered in French Script with the words " Sweet Dreams " in a darker blue. Around it were vines of ivy with tiny birds flying around them. Jeanway examined the fine work closely then ran her hand over it's surface. " Yes, he will like this." She said to herself as she tucked it under her arm and continued to sift through the open crates. She spent a few hours up on the deck, collecting personal undergarments for herself and Seska and Lwxana. When she had amassed a pile taller then herself she looked around for the Captain. " Captain, I seem to be finished with the items I needed, there is just one more thing I'll be needin." She said. " And what might that be Ma'am?" He asked. " Do ya happen to have a fine, absorbent cotton, I'll be needin it for my sick bay for bandages. " Aye, Ma'am, follow me." He said. They descended the rises to below deck then down a long passage to the hold. Jeanway could hear Fenriz and Worf somewhere among the stacks of crates, dimly lit, it was difficult for her to see. They were laughing and grunting at each other, she could not make out exact words, but they seemed to be enjoying themslves. Captain Worthington showed Jeanway to a sealed stack of crates far back in the hold near a porthole, which made it easier for her to examine. He pulled a sort of crowbar object from his back pocket and pried open the top crate then lifted off the lid. Inside were bolts of he finest white cotton she had ever seen. " Picked these up from a Merchant ship in the Mediterranian a couple months back, nearly forgot I had'm here. A fine Egyptian cotton they be Ma'am the best ya can get anywhere." He said. "I can see that." She answered. " How much ya be needin?" He asked. " How much ya got?" She asked. " All tolled me thinks me got uh, bout a dozen crates." Jeanway thought a moment then said. " I think five'll do it Sir,yes, five will do very nicely." She replied. "Oh, Captain Worthington?" she asked. " Aye Ma'am?" He answered. " Would ya be havin any of that nice English men's Rosewater cologne? " Sure we do, right ova here." He showed her to a crate with dozens of bottles packed in sawdust. She pulled on out and looked at the label. " That's it, me Dad used ta wear this, I loved it so." She said with a tear dropping down onto her cheek. " I'll take a dozen bottles." She said to him. "Fine Ma'am." He answered. Jeanway and the Captain went above deck to finish their dealings. She showed him her papers she had recieved from the Govenor, paid Captain Worthington in Pound Sterling and left the ship, arranging for his delivery boat to come to the Elusive as soon as it could be loaded.

Captain Worthington led Fenriz and Worf into a room below deck that was filled with women's clothing. Dresses of every sort were laid out on tables while some were half out of opened crates. "All of the latest fashions, gentlemen. I'm sure you'll find something for the special lady in your life." Worthington beamed. Fenriz stood in the center off the room bug-eyed, he looked to Worf for help but the Klingon was just as lost as he was. Fenriz turned to ask Worthington for help but the man had already left them alone, so Fenriz began looking through the merchandise. It was only a few moments before Fenriz got the hang of things, thinking back to the evening he and Jeanway shared together he pictured her in that dress she had worn. Holding up a long white dress Fenriz judged it to be her size, "What about this Worf? This would be beautiful on Jeanway wouldn't it?" Fenriz asked. Worf made sure he didn't look at the dress, "I'm sure I have no idea what would look good on the Admiral." he answered. Fenriz set the dress aside on a table where it was soon joined by a few more. Fenriz then whistled as he pulled something out of a crate. A deep red sari made from silk that had flowers woven on it with gold thread, folding it carefully he put it on the top of the dresses. Looking his selections over Fenriz spoke to himself, "I'm forgetting something." "Shoes." said Worf. Giving the Klingon a puzzled look, Fenriz stared at him. "You should get some shoes to go with the dresses." Worf explained. "Good idea" Fenriz agreed. Carrying the dresses Fenriz and Worf went to find Worthington. After Fenriz had found several pairs of shoes to match the dresses Captain Worthington directed one of his men to wrap up everything for his customers. "Will there be anything else gentlemen?" he asked. Fenriz thought for a moment then he spoke, "Actually, do you have any satin ribbons?" "Of course.' Worthington said. "Anything else?" Fenriz thought for a moment, "Perfume, do you have perfume?" Worthington led Fenriz to a chest which he unlocked, inside were a wide variety of bottles. Picking one of them up Fenriz took a sniif, "No." he decided, "Too sweet." Fenriz spents several minutes going through the various scents until he finally found on he liked, handing it to Worf the Klingon took a whiff of it. "Very nice." he declared, handing it to Worthington who wrapped it himself in a piece of white cloth and tied it with a blue ribbon. "Venecia, very nice. My last bottle as well." he explained as he wrapped it. The sailor wrapping the other items returned and handed them two large bundles. Fenriz handed him the money and the papers bearing the Governor's official seal, allowing them to trade in Macao. Worthington inspected it briefly then he announced, "Nice doing business with you, Gentlemen."

Walking down the gangplank from the Citizen, Fenriz and Worf were met by Pip and Thomas, "Where the devil have you two been." Fenriz demanded. "Never mind, here take this to the Elusive and tell them we've bought the powder." he commanded as he handed the bundles to the powder monkeys. "Hurry up, Now Worf what do we still need to buy? Oil?" Fenriz asked. "Cannon balls and shot." Worf corrected. "Right, let's go." Fenriz agreed.

After three days and nights in port, Jeanway decided to invite the Captains of the Nemesis, the Bonaventure, the Kongao Maru, the Batavia and the Portal to dinner on the Elusive. They had not all been together since their first day in port and she wanted to know how everyone was doing as far as restocking their respective ships and also discuss their plans for departure. Since they all arrived together she wanted to know if any of them had changed their plans about proceding to Hawaii together. she included Captain Braga, just as a courtesy since he had hosted their meeting with the Govenor.

She sat at her desk and wrote each invitation then sealed with wax and her hand stamped family crest on the back. "Thomas, where's Thomas?" She yelled from her cabin. The boy appeared at her open cabin door. " Here Ma'am." He said sheepishly. " Tom, take these to each of the ships in our little fleet and the extra one goes to the Nemesis, berthed right next to us. Can you do that for me dear?" "Aye, Ma'am, right away." He answered as he snatched them from her hand and ran down the passageway to the rises. " Good boy." Jeanway yelled to him as he disappeared from her sight.

Thomas returned about a half hour later. "All delivered and all accepted." He told her. " Very good, thank you my young friend." she said as she flipped a coin in his direction. " Thank you Ma'am." He said as he grabbed it out of mid-air.

After Jeanway spoke with Lwxana about the menu for her guests Jeanway went back to her cabin. A tap on her door. "Lida, you there?" A familiar voice whispered through the closed door. Jeanway opened the door. Fenriz stood there his arms full of wrapped parcels. "Come in." She said to him with a smile.

Fenriz entered Jeanway's cabin holding the bundles. "I did a little extra shopping while I was out. I picked you up a few things." he said. Setting the packages down on the table, he pulled a knife from his belt and cut the strings bound around them. Jeanway unwrapped each bundle and laughed when she saw what was inside, holding the white dress up to herself she looked at Fenriz "They're beautiful, especially this one. I'll wear it tonight. I've invited all of the other Captain's to dinner."

"And I did a little shopping myself." She said as she pulled the wrapped parcel from under the table. Here, this is for you, and this." As she handed him the bottle of English Rosewater. He popped the cork and sniffed it. " That's wonderful, Love." He said to her. Then he unwrapped the pillow. "Oh" He said hesitantly. This was something he hadn't expected. "Dear, you know how each night you say to me " Sweet Dreams"? She asked him " OOOHHH" He answered. They looked at each other and kissed.

Jeanway and Fenriz sat together in her cabin for a while sipping congac and talking. She admiring the dress and playing with the ribbons in between her fingers. "Well, I think we'd best get changed for dinner, I hear our guests are arriving." She said to Fenriz as she stood and opened the door to show him out. " Yes, your right, we don't want to keep our friends waiting." He answered as he walked out the door, carrying the pillow under his arm.

Jeanway and Fenriz opened thier cabin doors at the exact same time after they had finished dressing. He stepped out into the passage just as she did. They both giggled as he walked up to her and offered his arm, which she took and wrapped hers around. They walked into the Officer's dining room arm in arm. He handsome in his dress whites and her, stunning in the long, white satin gown he had just given her. Her long hair tied in the blue, satin ribbon and she wore the perfume he also gave her. With stars in their eyes they entered the dining room and sat down next to each other.

One by one, the Captains stood and thanked The Admiral and her Captain for inviting them and began presenting them with gifts of gratitude. I Likeseven and Seska being the first. ILS gave Fenriz a small box containing the two rings they had used when Jeanway married them, the day before. Also, he gave them a large cut crystal bowl on a glass pedestle, much like the one Jeanway had presented to the Govenor, only this one had a large 'E' etched on the front. " Oh, how lovely, thank you ILS." She said " It was Seska's idea." He answered. Everyone laughed and clapped. Next was Captain Nikkama. He stood and bowed in his usual manner, hands together. Jeanway and Fenriz did the same. Nikkama extended his hand with a large, shiny black box in it. Jeanway took it and opened it. " Ahh, a chess set made of Ivory, how beautiful, thank you." She said and bowed. Next was Captain HeadBorg. This one looked difficult for him. Jeanway could see how uncomfortable he was. Fenriz also started to sweat and wiggle in his chair. HeadBorg stood, cleared his throat and said. 'Here my dear, it's from me and all my crew, we hope you like it." He walked over to her where she stood and placed a tiny silver box in her outstretched palm then he closed her hand around it. He leaned over and whispered in her ear. " Open it when your alone." She looked at him, then at Fenriz. Then she sat down, her hand still wrapped around the tiny box.

The end of the gift giving, now time to eat. Jeanway avoided Fenriz's stare for much of the evening. His glares toward HeadBorg were obvious. They kept that going on all through the meal. The topic came up as to when they were to leave Macao and head due East to Hawaii. Since all ship's stores had been replenished, they all agreed it was to be the following morning at first light. Finally at dessert, plates of fresh fruit were served, bottles of sherry were poured into tiny apperitif glasses and served with a delicious coffee, laced a coffee flavored liquor and fresh cream. Bottles of Chateau Picard graced the table all through the meal. Lady fingers stuffed with a smooth custard served with a raspberry sauce. A cherry flambe', was set ablaze by Fenriz as he poured the liquer over it to the 'Eewws' and 'Aahhs of the drooling, drunken guests.

Everyone had a wonderful meal and much lively conversation and laughter. Finally Jeanway stood and thanked everyone for coming and for the gifts. The evening ended with handshakes and kisses. One in particular nearly starting another slug fest between HeadBorg and Fenriz.

By morning, the Kongou Maru has been restored to an exact replica of her original self. Her bronze dragon snaking down her hull has been polished, and her lacquered sides shine in the mist. Her cherry deck is clean, waxed, and polished. The vessel is empty, and a bizarre ritual takes place on the pier beside it.

Nikkori kneels on the pier facing the hills. His hands rest on his thighs, and his face is expressionless. He is shirtless, revealing the single scar across his right pectoral muscle. In front of him, one of his crewmembers stands. He wears the armor of the samurai, and his black hair is figured into the traditional topknot. His swords are sheathed, but he holds Nikkori’s bare sword in his hands, it’s point down. A younger crewmember kneels in front of sword and washes it with vinegar, then steps back. Nikkori speaks in a quiet voice.

“Shi o meikimasu…….”

The samurai brings the sword up and faces away from Nikkori. With a shout, he pivots quickly. The sword is a flash as he spins rapidly in front of Nikkori, who does not flinch as his own sharp blade lashes at him.

The samurai stands still again and lowers the sword. A drop of blood can be seen on its tip. Nikkori is still. A cut has been opened on his chest. It is perfectly parallel to and equal in length to the scar already there. It bleeds slowly down his chest, as the younger crewmember moves forward to wash Nikkori’s katana. It is dried, placed back into its scabbard, and laid before Nikkori. Nikkori places his hands on the pier in front of him and bows low. He picks up his sword, and the crewmembers disperse slowly. Some return to the Kongou Maru, while others move to the end of the pier to remove nets of fish. Others stand by and exchange talk. A single crewmember examines the lines holding the Kongou to the pier.

Just before dawn the following morning Jeanway again is awoken by the sounds of Peacocks calling to each other somewhere in the distance. She rises, washes and dresses. The Elusive is already busteling with activity as are the other ships berthed around her at the pier. Breakfast was bountiful as all the stores had been replenished and all the members of the crew were well fed and in a much cheerier frame of mind. After taking breakfast with Fenriz and her top officers Jeanway went up on deck to make ready their departure from the harbour. Sails were dropped as the sailors climbed the masts and untied them. Fishnets were hauled in that had been set the night before. The Elusive now free of all lines securing her to the pier began slowly inching her way backwards away from the pier. The Batavia followed, then the Bonaventure then the Kongua Maru. Setting out boats to help manuver the huge ships for their depature of the harbour. All four ships in turn swung about, all sails up they began to leave the Port of Macao. As they had entered the harbour four days before, they now sans the English merchant ship and the French frigit HeadBorg had found buyers for in port. Elusive in the lead, the four ships began their way weaving through the maze once again of small vessels that dotted the water. The sun just appearing on the horizon in a blinding glory before them.

When Jeanway and Fenriz, standing at the wheel together began to see the oddest apperition they had ever witnessed. The blinding glare from the sun before them appeared to be sending huge fireballs towards them on the suface of the water. First one the three then five then six. It was shortly apparent these were not figments of illusion coming towards them but flaming fire ships blocking the entrance to the habour. The French were attacking the harbour with fire. The flames began jumping from the ship and igniting all ships in their path. The impending doom was headed straight for the Elusive and her sister ships, there was no way around them. Havoc broke out on all four ships. As one by one this became apparent. One of the fireships had already made it's way on their starboard side and caused an inferno of those ships docked ahead and behind them. Portside were equally blazing ships as the fire jumped from ship to ship. The harbour now laden with heavy, black smoke and flames the screams and cries of people being burned alive as others jumped into the waters around them.

Jeanway, in a panic, ran to the stern, wanting to see if her companions were on fire yet. She witnessed them all, still intact with no fire near them. Sparks drifting through the air towards them. Not knowing what to do next she stood atop the wheelhouse and dropped to her knees and began praying outloud. The crew seeing her all began dropping and praying aloud. Knowing death was at hand, there was nothing left for anyone to do but pray. Sails had been lightend to slow their approach towards the fireships and all four ship sat motionless in the middle of the inferno.
