  1. Captain Smily,

ive had that problem, it may be different in your case, but i say:

dont try and fix it or even take it in for repairs, if you know a small amount about the inside of computers, i say buy a new CD drive ($20-$50) or a CD-RW drive ($50-$150) and put it in.

A friend of mine suggested the same on the phone tonight. Its my CD-RW drive that's shot.

I might ask him to have a go at it.I'd just mess my computer up worse by fooling around with the insides myself.

My friend mentioned something about buying a CD-RW drive which could be connected to the PC through a USB port.He said that way I wouldn't have to try and open my PC up and make repairs myself.Anybody know what product he's talking about (I have an e-machines W2247 model PC)? :)

  2. Thanks for the help.

After further checking,I think I may have done more damage than I thought.

Now,I can't get the CD tray to slide out of its little slot at all....

    Man...stupid,stupid,stupid...

  3. Okay,I suppose what I did was really stupid.

Yesterday I tried to play an old, scratched CD on my computer (it had played for me in my compact CD player just a moment before).Once I placed the disc inside the PC's disc drive it started spinning really quickly (I could hear it),and then...Bang!It exploded....

I spent an hour cleaning CD bits and pieces out of my computer's disc drive. But now,the disc drive will not work.

Tell me,how much is my idiocy going to cost me?

Am I going to have to take my PC in for repairs?(Lord,I'm dreading the replies...I know I messed things up).

I need to get the disc drive working again. Its very important...

  4. I've gone into chat rooms and read what others were saying, but never posted or went in using my real name.

Those chat rooms...no matter what their subject matter, they're always filthy, dirty.I'm not sure I'm even old enough to listen in on what's being said

I haven't gone back to any in months. There's no point,IMO.

As for Internet dating,I've never really tried that.I'd be afraid of meeting into a nut.

  5. Okay,this is weird...

Someone has registered a user account on my computer (which is impossible since nobody uses the computer except for me...)

I only just noticed this when I went to my control panel a few moments ago to change my account avatar.

It said "ASP.NET Machine A" (limited account/password protected). This new account was listed beside my own (my own being the only user account that has ever been on my PC).

Does anybody know what this is that's happening?

I know that that account was never on my computer before now.

I have a feeling that I should delete the account immediately...but since I don't know much about computers,I'm don't know if I should.

  6. Well,hope everyone likes it.

The site started up on Monday, and since then it has registered more than 20 members, and been visited by a minor pro wrestling star,"The Nature Boy" Buddy Landel. The site is dedicated to a pro wrestling game that I have been playing for more than a decade, however it also offers forums for real world wrestling and other diversions.Stop by if you have time and say,"Hello".

On site I am registered as the "FanZonePresident".

  7. Richard Nixon.

    No.I'm not joking.

Nixon did an incredible job as President. If it hadn't been for Watergate and the counsel of advisors who may not have had his best interest at heart,I really, honestly believe Nixon's legacy would have been much different.Nixon's visit to China, and his withdrawal of troops from Vietname are only two examples of why I think highly of him (he showed that although we are different we do not have to fear each other or be enemies in China....he corrected a terrible mistake,IMO,of another administration by expediting the end of the Vietnam conflict).

I'm sure I'll get razzed about my choice (by now I'm getting used to sour looks and raspberries from folks when I say I liked Nixon).Oh well.Nixon's my choice!

  8. ah,hmm....I guess that could have happened?Afterall not every Bajoran was oppossed to the occup...I mean, the "stewardship" of the Cardassians.

Didn't Kai Opaka even help them locate a resistance cell her own son belonged to?Even though,as I recall she did that more to save lives than to actually be helpful to the Cardassians.

  9. Who writes your propoganda,Cardie Fan?Klingons?

That line about the Vulcans seems similar to what the Klingon Ambassador said to the Federation High Council after Kirk killed Commander Kruge and took his bird-of-prey.

I like your post, though. Its nice to have something different posted every once in a while.

  10. I went ahead and created my own ship and crew.

To tell the truth,though....except for the Captain and the smart *buttocks* helsman (characters based on myself and my best friend...I'm captain,of course),I don't really care about the other crew members as I write about them. And if I don't care about them, then nobody else will, either.

I've decided to put my story on hold until I go back and flesh out the primary characters a little better in my own mind, and give them some personality and depth of character.

The ship I've decided on my sound like an odd choice, but I picked an Oberth. The reasons being the captain is first and foremost a scientist, and this ship was his first command (he's really attached to it). Also he knows that with a larger ship will come a more varried array of mission profiles, and he doesn't want to be a diplomat or a soldier.I don't see him as being so much afraid of those responsibilities as disdainful of them.Something I want to keep up throughout the series of stories (I'm planning on writing more) will be Starfleet's frustration with trying to get him off the ship and into the center seat of a newer, faster, better equipped vessel, while he refuses promotion after promotion (even as the Oberths are phased out of active service, one after the other).

I call the ship USS Axanar (I couldn't think of anything else, except for USS Lord Nelson...but that didn't work for a science ship).

  11. Hey,Cardie fan!We're neighbors!

    You're right,I've been through Raisin City...it sucks!

    Click for Spoiler:

    just joking.

I thought I was in Mexico, dude.Everybody was speaking spanish.I've been in that store...it's like a converted church or something?Weird. But on the upswing, that old lady there makes some good tacos.None of that Taco Bell crap.Genuine Mexican food.

My dad, uncle, and brothers and me used to go down to that little lake you've got just outside of town and fish/shoot ducks & rabbits.
