Voyager recruit

If one reads the TNG novel by Peter David-the title escapes me at the moment-he purports there that our fave entity from the Continuum has been assigned to look after Trelayne,to mentor him(I take it here that he is a Q, likely-in the novel) It's an interesting premise, and as a fan-writer I'd have no problem going with it...though as I think others point out, or may have, the Q don't by all evidence during the 3 latter series require physical tech to accomplish their ends. Anyway, I say have fun with the concept. They're both great characters. Esentially,officially, a Q, possibly not.

I was, as a fan of TOS from those early syndication days, pleased that elements of the series were being written into STE. There are those who pan the prequel show,but I am not one of them. I loved seeing how everything got started, including earth's first contacts with the races we know so well from thereafter. Including two of my faves, the Tholians and the Gorn. THANKS, MANNY!!!

A-firmative. If 'Santa' is a friend...got ''Ships of The Line'', and TOS calendars.

I was watching something else, when I flipped to the network showing the event, and-wow! I thought. There they are! Would've liked to hear the intro. I hope that somehow these fellows will bring trek the notoriety in the general public-and the respect-the Star Trek, in any form, deserves!!

That was a strong ep. I wonder what happened to Captain Maxwell. I have imagined that Starfleet might even have tapped him during the Dominion War to aid in the desperate fight...they certainly needed his skill, and tactical expertise against Cardassia...I can still recall that scene with O'Brien in Maxwell's Ready Room...''We're not gonna win this one, are we chief?''... and that song.. ''The minstrel boy to the wall has gone, and the ranks of death he will find him. His father's sword he has girded on, and his wild harp slung beside him...''or something very close to it. Love that old ditty.

So many choices....hmm. But that Riker quote about fools and little children...a classic. Oh-how about, ''Given a choice between slim and none, i'll take slim anytime''...or Sulu from Voyager...'' there's more to serving on a starship, than carrying out orders, and following regulations...'' He speaks of one of the things that marked the crews of the Enterprises, of DS9, of Voyager...the loyalty, the bonds kept, that keep we fans coming along with them into that Final Frontier...and of the human(oid) heart.....

P.S. John Glover alert!!I just recalled that Lex's deceased pop is on the CBS series 'Numbers'' for anyone who cares to tune in, tonight, Jan. 23rd. Enjoy.

Greetings. I would say yes. I grew up reading the comics..way back when! I certainly recall Clark's hometown history. It is aimed at a younger audience, as with other CW programs, but, that's of no consequence; it's a well-written series, and gives any fan of the man in the red cape an interesting glimpse at Kal-el's early years...saw it last night; ya know Lex has to return at some point! Micheal R. does a good job playing him.

Hope ya had plenty of Visine on hand!! And lots of that 'glop on a stick' they sell on the Promenade.Peace!

The E is pretty cool. Looks sleek, and fast...ready to leap to max-warp, at a relative rest(as she did so well in the films)....a departure in that regard from its predecessors-though every ship in that proud line has her allure. Still wouldn,t count 'th 'ol Big D out .....ssssshhhhhhooooommmmm!!!!!

Well...I did. Some ditty from some quasi-rap or whichever artist, talking about ''I like ta move it, move it''...not up on these guys. My music tastes lean towards the Classic Rock days..my heyday. The tune was on some car commercial...gee, it's been tough to lose tat one!....hm. Maybe i'll try that device from ''Dagger of the Mind''....heh heh.

A couple come to mind- ''Federation''....''Pathways''(Big Voyager fan here-duh!)....''The Final Reflection''(a terrific Klingon-centered novel from tos era by the, bless him, late John M. Ford. Check it out, if you run across it at your local used bookseller. Sure ther are more I can think of....

A veeerrryy late reply-in case anybody is looking!-but then I am late, sure, way late to this party!.....I think the name was given as an appropos one based upon the nature of STV-my fave. Hmm...Voyager meets V'Ger..? Could have happened!

In case anyone-particularly the original poster-happens to see this old post-new to me as a recent addition to this site-yeah, good collection. Have most of those pics of Janeway in my own collection-from calendars, etc. She is not a bad-looking female, true. Kate has a nice smile..but, then so does Jennifer Lien-my personal Number One fave female actor fro STV-Kat coming in second.

Indeed, it is a fine ep-and there were certainly others from DS9. Though I am predominantly a Voyager-Enterprise-Classic fan...alwaysn watched Sisko and co., was more involved with them then....speaking of this ep, of course, again, as an original fan first in order, Iloved seeing the Three Da'har Masters together on this sworn mission. C'mon...Kang, Koloth, and Kor, played with such gusto by the late, bless him, John Colicos...the Original Baltar-yeah, I grew up on Classic Battlestar, nver mind the comparisons, however considerably admissable. Doesn't get much cooler than this. But, was sad to see two of these great warriors go to their reward in the Black Fleet-as the equally great ST Klingon novel ''The Final Reflection'' says(And Bless John M. Ford, the late writer of that novel) But, then, Koloth and Kang would not have gone out any other way, eh?

Sure....I like Smallville. Was a comics fan in my youth. Wish I still had 'em all...such as the Supes-Spiderman crossover publication. Looking forward to Season eight of the show. Like all the delving into Krypton, etc. Some advanced culture. They make the Federation of Trek look not so high-tech by comparison. It may be aimed at a younger audience, but the characters are intriguing, and well thought out. Micheal Rosenbaum plays a great Lex.

L.I.S.? Quuuiiite a difference! Did watch it as a kid, and I have fond memories. Oh, the pain!!! Warning, warning!!! ......yes, as we look at it with a cold, modern-sf eye, Will and co. do not measure up. But, it is what it is, and Classic..I shall always love. TOS dealt with large, and even crucial issues, be it overpopulation, racism, et al...Gene was able to sneak in these things under the guise of a futuristic drama, with characters, who, yet, were human-or in part-and an entertaining, action-type, so often show, that stands the test of time..and begat some other afves of mine. LIS was purer light-sf, so to speak..wellllll...verry light. Both have their place, in the TV lexicon.

Okay-I grew up on the original. I am old enough, to claim to be an original fan-that is, by way of those second-runs. they are, to amny who grew up in the Star Wars, and ensuing FX fields..perhaps one might say..cruder.In a way. But they did with what they had, and I shall ever love my Classic. That said..I do love the uprated version. I recall viewing 'Turnabout Intruder'' recently, and the final scene-what was, for the ep, the last one of the originals...and the add-on, with my beloved NCC-1701, sailing off towards a nebula...any Classic fan, or anyone else, would recognize it, as a love-letter to the fans of TOS..something I know Gene would have been proud to see as a capper to his creation, if too soon. Makes one think, ''What if""...I think that those responsible for 2.0, as some of you call it, regard their work as a labor of love-you'd have to, to take such time, and effort-which I unabashedly applaud!It does not, in my view, take away from anything,thou some who may see themselves as more'purist' may disagree, and I respect that. I am glad for the new shots-and the whole-new clips,as well. I look at the Enterprise, moving about a planet..the camera close-in, as she passes...giving us long-timers the cahnce to appreciate our lady of the stars. Kudos, I say, to the whole endeavor.

Thought it was a good concept. But, as with all time travel....poor Jon. To quote my other favorite captain, good 'ol Kathie Janeway...''Time travel....it gives me a headache" And she oughtta know!! 'shockwave' was cool. Loved Archer getting a tease, from the crumbling library, about future governments.....how about seeing the NX-01, flying above the Big Apple, duking it out with modified Stukas? Pretty cool. And they thought Kong was the biggest thing to hit the burg!

Saw it. Liked it. Still do. Too short a season(s) One of my three faves.

Just a quick, off the top of my head thought-yeah, the Rom Wars..cool idea. Perhaps, had STE continued, we would have seen more from those pesky, sneaky, clever offshoots of those logical folks...a led-up to the big rumble in the Alpha Quad. Anybody read the Pocket books compilation tome, 'Starfleet, Year One". I liked it. The tech was in some regards close to Ent, season one...featured the Stiles family, aka 'Balance of Terror''..a Classic classic.

When I realized the weren't going to utilize a symphonic score, I was dissappointed-but, it grew on me. Still like it; it well fit the series, which, as I am sure the producers intended, to be a fresh take on ST. Took a bit, to get used to the up-tempo revamp, but still a good tune.

Gotta go with Johnny Archer....a fine precursor to Kirk and the rest. Scott B. did fine work. But, I love Trip, too. Knew I would, from that line in the pilot to T'Pol, and humanity, 'We used to have cannibalism on Earth. Who knows how far we'll revert?''
