  1. :o If you really think about it. You never see klingon ears. Their hair is always covering. When Worf has his ponytail or short hair, it looks like there's hair growing where his ears should be. Does anybody remember EVER seeing Klingon ears (except on klingon/somethingorother hybrids)?

  2. Well, I would only have 2 fears before the "initial" transport.

    1. Does it scan my body, destroy it, then create a copy somewhere else?

    OR

    2. If my body is "taken apart" on the moleculer level, sent somewhere via energy beamed, and then put together - would my soul go along for the ride?

CJLP - that sounds as if you think your soul is contained in your molecules. I don't know about you, but I also believe in the human soul, and I don't think it's contained in our molecules.

That aside, I'm with VBG - I don't want to transport in the early days, but later on, YES! I love to drive, but I'd rather just beam there!

Well, I know the soul isn't contained in one's molecules. That's why I was asking if it would just "ride the beam" over to the destination or be zapped to your body when it's put back together. :o

In the 70's era TOS novel Spock Must Die! McCoy and Spock have a debate about the subject of Soul transportation. It was very interesting, and a little frightening.Since the original body is,by Spock's admission, destroyed and a new copy made...what happens to the soul?If raised in the 24th century I would probably accept transportation as readily as i accept traveling in an airplane, and wouldn't be bothered by it.

You guys are getting all religious on me. I've never been one to believe in souls.

As for being afraid of transporting. If it were a brand new spanking technology I'd definitely not try it until a bunch of people had gone first (or I might turn into the Fly.) If I was just flung into the 24th century where everyone acts like it's driving a car I'd be okay. But it depends. Does it feel really strange? It might FEEL scarey, eh?

  3. I love them all! For least favourite it was a toss up between VOY and DS9. I picked DS9 mostly because of the oh so boring whos-going-to-be-the-next-bajoran-religious-leader-and-who-the-chuck-cares episodes, which are even more boring than the I'm-checotay-and-i'm-a-native-american-going-on-a-spirit-quest episodes. But I still love 'em all. :o

  4. The safety that I wonder about isn't for the bridge officers, it's the families on the ship. Sure, they encounter dangers every episode but what about when they're planning on going on a mission that they KNOW is going to be dangerous. (like engaging the Borg or the Romulans). Shouldn't they drop some of the kids off at a starbase or something?

  5. It would be cool, but I think it would also be the downfall of Trek.  The theme behind startrek has always been humanity at it's core.  That would remove that theme altogther.  However, if they did happen to do a movie one, I'd like to see something with the Romulans and Vulcans.  I've always felt that the Romulans were not touched upon enough.

Well you know in the SF genre we're not really talking about the future, we're talking about the here and now. It's all allegorical and metaphorical and all that. So even if the series was set on Ferenginar or the Klingon Empire there'd still be humanity (because Ferengi and Klingons are really metaphors for humans). Does that make sense?

  6. My 2 1/2 year old nephew is obsessed with trains. He really enjoyed the "CHOO-CHOO" in Emergence. So I voted for it on his behalf. I only actually saw a few episodes on Mon (of course I've seen them all years ago). One was lower decks, another was liaisons. and of course emergence. Emergence was definitely the best out of those three. That episode is screwed up! B) In a good way! :)

  7. We should have TNG and DS9 characters (because they're all friends with WORF) and they should form a big happy crew.

We can think of som BS reason why all the non-starfleet crew from DS9 can move to the Enterprise F(or whatever letter we're at now). Then there can a guest appearance by some voyager characters. And VOY can get the movie after that.

  8. I just remembered in the episode the naked time when the landing party brought back the virus from the planet there was a scene in the briefing room when Kirk found Spock. he asked Spock if he had been watching that beautiful Yeoman and said captains are not permitted but thin he stopped in mid sentence. I thought there might be a regulation on that.

Maybe Spock meant that Captains weren't permitted to chat about chicks while on duty. Or that he's not permitted to make unprofessional comments about crewmembers.

  10. Some of you guys have been complaining about the writing on Enterprise. I have to say I don't know what you're talking about. Enterprise RULES! It's the greatest series since TNG and you know why? IT'S FREAKIN HILLARIOUS! I haven't laughed so hard since Data and Worf dressed as Friar Tuck and Allan'a'Dale. Voy and DS9 had some cool plots, and funny bits, and action, and people overcoming their differences to live in harmony and all that jazz BUT they never made me laugh like TNG. ENT does.

    Click for Spoiler:

And if Archer and T'pal "get it on".

Well wouldn't that just be so ridiculous, so utterly absurd, that it will make us all giggle uncontrolably? I know I will. And what was wrong with a night in sickbay? Archer got to do that fun apology dance. You guys should watch TOS, that'll loosen you up.

    xoxoxo

    Jen

BTW: I take star trek about as seriously as I take life. And you have to laugh at life.
