  3. With only the relatively small group of die-hard fans willing to pay around a $100 each for the season sets and very little opportunity to hook causal viewers on the re-runs, Trek is in real danger of fading away for quite a number of years, if not forever.

For a number of years, yes, possibly. Forever? I sincerely doubt it. If anything should have killed Star Trek, it was the cancellation of TOS. Look what happened there.

I am not, nor have I ever been, a 'basher'. I am a sincere Trek fan who spent years devotedly watching the show and buying the books. I have never publicly said a derogatory word even about Enterprise before tonight, and all I'm saying now is that I don't think it was of sufficient quality and that the Trek franchise would be better off with a rest. Hardly heresy.

As far as fans being divided - having different opinions does not mean that one opinion is less becoming to a Trek fan than another is. In the Star Wars fandom, in which I am more active these days and with which I'm sure many of you are quite familiar, there are fans who hate the Prequel Trilogy. There are others who love it more than the Original Trilogy. There are those who read the books religiously and those who consider the books heretical at best. There are some fans who write fanfic or make fan movies, others who care only about watching the movies or collecting. Despite those differences, they're all SW fans. There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion regarding the Trek franchise in any aspect.

  4. I agree with The King on this issue. I think that overall Enterprise did not maintain the level of quality that Star Trek should. I also think that Paramount made some truly foolish decisions that helped bury Enterprise before it really had a chance. Personally, I think that a rest of several years would do wonders for the Trek franchise. It's in serious danger of being oversold. Let people's appetite for Trek really build for a little while, instead of people taking it for granted. It would be difficult for a lot of serious fans, yes, but they would survive, just as they did between TOS and TNG, and just as the Star Wars fans survived between the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy. In the long run, I think that would be the best scenario for Trek as a whole.

Don't get me wrong; I'm sincerely sorry for those who enjoyed the show. But there are some of us who felt it did more harm than good - and we're genuine Trek fans too.

  5. Romantic Dreamy Emotional

You are a very sensitive person. You refuse to view things only from a sober, rational standpoint. What your feelings tell you is just as important to you. In fact, you feel it is important to have dreams in life, too.

You reject people who scorn romanticism and are guided only by rationality. You refuse to let anything confine the rich variety of your moods and emotions.
