  1. We used to get those all the time. My grandfather was a registered Republican and up to about three years after he died we were getting stuff from them saying how concerned they were that they hadn't gotten money from him. I never figured out if it was more irritating than funny or the other way around...And we've gotten ton's of "personalized" stuff from the president. We're Dems. It's really just a bunch of campaigning.

edit: it was too big, so I put it in a spoiler. It's the full size of my desktop...

  4. ^Yeah. Ironically enough, I can't really do landscapes very well. That and if I want to do anything more :interesting than a pretty young girl, I need a reference B) But I guess that's because I tend to doodle more feminine eyes, noses, and mouths on my school work

  5. ^I'm actually going to a liberal arts college (all of the schools I applied to are liberal arts). My logic is that I don't really know what I want to do yet, and I see college as a way to figure out what I'd like to do. I'm probably going to spend freshman year figuring out which classes really spark my interest and going from there. Right now I'm looking at taking classes in political science and computers (web design, I'm not much of a hard core programmer) and maybe some work in the field of aviation (probably through local airports, not many liberal arts schools have aeronotical classes B)).

Both my parents got liberal arts degrees, and the only thing straining us financially is the fact that we need to learn how to budget better, so specificity isn't necessarily important, in my personal experience. I think what's really important in a college is how it fits the student and the student's needs. I need more flexibility and cultural and social experiences, not a rigid technical school, or a highly competitive program, so I've found that liberal arts is more suited to me and my education, so that's where I'm gonna go

  6. Since it's about that time of year when applicant begin to get their letters back from colleges, I was wondering who here goes to college/went to college/has applied to what colleges. I personally have applied to 8 colleges, and have gotten letters from two (Earlham college, and Christopher Newport College).

    Anyone else?

  7. Thanks :VBGal2:

I wish I could get around to finishing that one of Picard, but I just haven't found the time.

And thanks for putting that last one in a spoiler, I forgot about its size

  8. I could have sworn that I'd posted at least one of these before, but even I did the link is probably dead

Very nice! I think it would also be neat if you cut the ship, flipped the image of Spock and shifted him to the other side of the column of images, then shifted the column over to the edge of the screen. Then you could have the whole right hand side of your screen being the images, and the left hand side being the icons with no interuption of the two.

Although I doubt I'm making any sense

  10. Yeah, XHTML rocks. HTML is too overloaded with stuff that you really don't need. And that coupled with CSS makes for awesome sites ^_^

As for the sites you mentioned stvoyagerfan21, here's my 10 second critique's  :

webmonkey: decent, but they want to teach frames? Yuck...

DevGuru: Looks awesome  Got a long list of shtuff. But it could be confusing to a newbie.

    Jupitermedia: gave me a 404 error o.O

Dave's Web: looks a bit cluttered with ads...

w3: YAY! These people set the standards for the web. Good people to look to. Their tutorials are all at http://www.w3schools.com

HTML Beginner's Guide: Looks good. Clean and to the point.

HTML Ref: Good, if you already know HTML and CSS.

  11. Perhaps one of the best sites I know is Getting Down With XHTML.

Don't let the X scare you, it's just a newer version of HTML. If you pardon the cheesy title, the site is actually very good. It complies with the internet standards that are set by w3c and gives you a head start with CSS, which invisionfree also uses.

If you want me to check out your site layout and stuff I'd me more than happy to give you a few pointers!
