  1. Species:  Talaxian.  If Neelix is a prime model, they lack any good general personality characteristics, are thoroughly irritating and have no sense of style.

Individual:  I'd have to say Rom.  Would he ever just stop whining?  I guess he finally made something of himself in the end, but it was certainly a long time coming and I didn't have the patience to wait in the end.

    Agreed.

  2. It seems that Star Trek is having an entirely new form of entertainment evolved from an old idea, a Star Trek Theme Park! More official information is listed below... So what are your thoughts about the new place and will you go?

Trekland: Paramount Announces the Final Frontier of Fun!

Paramount Parks, a leading developer and operator of regional theme parks and location-based entertainment attractions, has announced plans for an all-new, completely original theme park based on one of entertainment's biggest franchises — Star Trek. The new park, to be called "Trekland," is slated to open by the year 2010 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, future home to Starfleet and the spot where Kirk landed a cloaked bird-of-prey.

In this bold move, Paramount Parks offers a new destination that promises to be "The Final Frontier of Fun" as visitors from around the world come to seek out new rides and new adventures.

The proposed attractions include: the Antimatter Horn; It's a Thrall World; Orion Pirates of the Caribbean; Great Nanoseconds with Mr. Data; Captain Picard's Wild Ride; Vash Mountain; Country Targ Jamboree; Haunted Mess Hall; Janus VI Cruise; Enchanted Horga'hn Room, Main Street U.F.P.; Starfleet Tours; Morn-o-rail; Odo-pia; Harry Mudd Hatter; the U.S.S. Columbia starship; Dr. Noonien Soong's Treehouse; and the Cyrano Jones and the Tribbles of Doom Adventure.

Different sections of the park will be themed by easily identifiable areas such as "Final Frontierland," "Risaland," "Mirror Universeland," "Vorta's Weyountown" and "Return to Tomorrowland."

(Disclaimer: The name Trekland, and the proposed rides and attractions bear no resemblance to things living or otherwise, on this planet or the next. Any resemblance is purely coincidental if, in fact, there is any resemblance. But there isn't, so if any of the attractions resemble names of other attractions at any theme parks in the world today it is purely an alternate fiction. Herewith, and in perpetuity.)

    More news as it breaks…

  3. Kes, becuase she was the one that was able to evolve through the show, both physically and mentally. Although one cannot relate with her with the telepathy, her kindness of her heart and and caring towards others, is something that everyone can relate to. I personally feel that the switch between the Kes character and Seven was a horrible mistake, but nonetheless, I liked both characters development.

  4. I would jump off the ship, kiss the ground 1000 times, use mouthwash, and run until I get to my home and hug my family, or if they are in starfleet command then I would just go to whichever is closer.

Smell self after 7years, result > :dude:

  5. I like the way Gene saw it;  actors make better aliens, not because they look like us, but because they act like us.  We can relate to them.  Species 8472 can't even speak.  CGI characters that speak tend to look ridiculous.  Also, they just don't look as real as other characters.  It reminds me that I'm watching a fake show.  Boo to the Xindi!

I agree, I think that the CGI aliens are too unrealistic, why would they have aliens looking unhuman, even the aliens that we profess to abduct people are LGM's (Little Green Men). How can say (a big brown slug) survive in a universe with humanoid species with legs and arms and the ability to move around fast and effeciency. If I see ENT to be getting like Star Wars then I say 'BOOOOO', good writing or not, I just dont want to see aliens that look too alien, they just look like oversized human actors.

Also, I believe that Species 8472 looked humaniod as well, they had arms, legs, but were just skinny. It does take a lot of money to do those special effects though, a few CGI aliens would be acceptable, just dont overdo it.

  6. I really think that you needed to look at this in a supernatural point of view, with the Warp 10 flight basically was suppose to be the limitations of a ship. It is just as though you are going so fast that your molecules are going as fast as well, making you evolve fast, I enjoyed this episode, maybe I enjoyed the fact that we would turn into Lizards instead of Apes... (hehehehe), but I think it was well protrayed on how sometimes we cannot be prefect. If VOY completed this task would you like to see the technology to fall into the wrong hands?

  7. They had a lot of time alteration shows and we seen multipile ships along with multiple people, the deal is.... if I get split into two (as in the case with Harry Kim) and I die, I still live?!? The same deal is with Seska in Shattered, when they had Chakotay going around the ship, did Seska remain alive by going back in time, makes my head hurt. If time travel did exist I think it should have this rule....

When you go back in time, you see the way the world was, but if you go far back enough you would not see those people again, just you alone walking in a world that was once perfect, now barren. If you travel forward in time, you will see the result and the people that will be living, but you would not get a chance to see yourself in the future since you traveled to the time of destitation (why would you see a future self??)

  8. I would like the cast to come back all together for a VOY update episode, nothing for continuation, but what the doctors name will be (if it is Joe and he marries that beautiful blonde), see if Torres' daughter is still apart of that Klingon Council, etc.... VOY had a dynamic cast and their show was a little un-sci-fi, had a lot of emotion and romance as well.

  9. Yes B'elanna did not have pips, she had a bar which represents her brevet rank.  If you'll notice, all maquis members of Voyager have this bar.  The reason being is that they are not Starfleet members.  But Janeway gave them each brevet ranks so that the ships heirarchy could function.  While B'ellana may be referred to as a Lieutenant, she does not actually carry a true rank.  It is a temporary rank if you will. The definition of Brevet rank is "a commission giving a military officer higher nominal rank than that for which pay is received"  If you adapt the definition to fit with the 24th century it would remove the part about pay because economics are different (we work to better ourselves) therefore, a brevet rank is a commission giving a military officer higher nominal rank than officially given.

This might be taking the Torres topic off topic, but I was thinking about Seven, Neelix, and Kes, why didnt they have to wear uniforms. I know they didnt pledge their allegence to Starfleet and they just couldnt hand over uniforms, but Maquie gained uniforms and they were traders of Starfleet, why not give newbies who actually like starfleet a uniform

  10. As most of you know B'Elanna Torres is my favorite Voyager character.  BUT I was also bothered by the behaviors she exhibited in this episode.  I felt the writers carried her insecurities a bit to far in this episode.  B'Elanna, in spite her being torn apart by many cruelties that she faced during her childhood, in addition to having felt rejected by her father because she looked Klingon..........before this particular episode, she'd never been portrayed as being irrational to the point of "the rediculous."  Yes, in my opinion in this episode, she was definitely caring things a bit too far.  She was completely out of control in this episode.  She was driven to the point that  she could have harmed her unborn child, as well as put the entire ship in danger.  Pregnant or not ,there should have been a serious reprimand.  But again the writer's of this episode I fault.  They made B'Elanna look like a really bad human being, star fleet officer, and mother.  They made the Captain and Chakotay look incompetant.  They had Kim  almost siding with B'Elanna during the early part of the episode.......................Nope, I thought this was one of the worst episodes I'd seen in a while.............But Me Maw,  if you get a chance to see some of the early episodes of Voyager, you'll get a better understanding of a lot of B'Elanna's issues.  Yes, she is a highly charged, emotional individual, with many unresolved insecurities.  But overall, she's competant, caring  and a nice person..........not like she seemd in that episode :dude:

I really think one needs to put theirselves in her position, what would you do if you were the mother of an unborn child and the doctor say that the childs nose would be as long as Cerno De Bursach (french film, may of misspelled). I am sure that most of you would say, yes I would leave that child alone becuase I would love him/her, nonetheless if they didnt even have a nose at all. Now think of this situation, we have technology that has the ability to reconfigure that nose into a normal sized one, and the procedure is at least 95% successful, wouldnt you jump at the chance for your child to live a normal life, without ridicule? I being a man, might not know the feeling a mother has for her child, but I do know what it is like to be ridiculed as well (maybe not for physical features), but if I had a child that would get ridiculed for years becuase he has an unslightly abnormaility and know they have surgery to alter the appearance to make that child look good, I would take that chance, not just for me and the love of my child, but for my child to have the opportunity to look like everyone else, normal and feeling that he can be apart of society.

  11. ENT is lacking realism and adding more drama than character development... They are getting too many flaws and inacurate explinations to make this show a great hit. One thing with 'The Crossing' the aliens have this big ship, yet can survive out of space... who operates the ship, in order to actually trap ENT inside?!?! They didn't even consider adding in an alien pilot, or someone involved with these creatures.... (onto the main posting).... The TCW plot, is interesting and adds a new element to the Star Trek SAGA, it good, but can get better. With the series fanile it seems as though, the mysterious man wants to be as a foggy-trustworthy enemy. Although he lauches attacks against the enterprise, somehow he must need something from the Xindi in order for Archer to go into the Expanse (anyway that is my interpertation). The Xindi are cool aliens, but they are created for drama, the ratings are down and they want to take an interesting sci-fi spin, instead of an emotional replay on how they do with all of the rest of the series (but I believe that it is the emotional role-play that makes Star Trek a smashing SAGA).

The technology that ENT has is low key, but if Archer is suppose to be this captain with 'no rules, no prime directive', why not take a peek? If he does he will be the ultimate captain to break all the laws of the Tempral Directive... (a classic Star Trek theme).

Here are some pointers that we need to look for when watching the ENT go into the Expanse.....

    1) Remeber that everything will not follow the laws of physics, therefore adding excitment and a sense of shock and awe, do not be afraid of this new development for I think it will just be for season three

    2) Charater Development vs. Military - With the Military on board the ENT, do not expect to see much Character Development, but watch out for more disciplinary actions and them getting more in the way of personal relationships.

    3) Firepower and Battles - Yes, the glory of any good sci-fi series, the heartrenching battles between strong aliens.... Remeber the Klingon know about the expanse as well, and probably will reconfigure their ships in order to hunt down ENT; do not be scared if we do not see though too many Klingons, Andorians, for I am sure they will have an abudnant use of them in Season Four

    4) Starfleet - Back on Earth, we might see some pressure as the only real line of defense is gone, creation of a stronger starfleet might take into play.

  12. With all the buzz I heard from the permier episode, it got me to get uniterested, but yet again interested... I wanted to see T'Pol's new look, but I recieved some spoiling info about the plot, at other ENT cult sites.... Makes me want to know from the fans if they like these spoilers. Sometimes I do, sometimes, I dont.

  13. 2001 was a story about evolution and the journey of man (a rather large theme!).

The question that 2001 was searching was how evolution began, and why. This is the reason for the black monolith however how the monolith got there and who put it there are questions that the film leaves to the audience. This is the major reason that this film is considered one of the greatest in cinema history as it involves the audience in a way that they have to search for the answers from within themselves.

The 'HAL section' of the film seems to look at the irony of modernisation and human development as we see that the computer (HAL) is actually more human than the cold and calculated human characters. There is also the issue of our own creation of life, as computers are made by man and this also discusses how life is defined, what life means.

I won't say anymore as I will let you explore the details of the film for yourself and let you come to your own conclusions.

Thinking about the book, it seemed confusing as well, but that was my grasp on the novel... have yet to see the movie. :)
