  1. That makes it even more confusing.

If the Guinen whom spoke to Jean-luc, was an echo left over,

(never left Nexus to reach Enterprise-

Then how would she even know Capt.Picard at all?

He was even born yet when she entered the Nexus...and the 'echo' having stayed there.

The 'other' Guinen whom escaped Nexus and living since Kirks' death, I understand her knowing Picard,

since she becomes the bartender on board Enterprise-D.

......not trying to pick the movie apart, I'm trying to get the story.

  2. Oh...my bag. Guess that makes sense.

This movie may require several viewings for me to understand it all.

Data was a hoot, luv'd it. Especially the fist shaking after the Klingons bit the biscuit.

  3. I liked 'Generations'. .Yes, it's sad Capt.Kirk is killed at the end. However, it seems more realistic.

Things happen. Chars doesn't always die romantically.

My only gripe- I was confused by the NEXUS.

Why Guinen said, think of me as an echo, just baffled me.

I thought Guinen appears & talks to Picard because the Enterprise saucer had crashed on the same planet Picard & Soran were on just before the NEXUS rips thru it. It would make sense that was the reason for her being there.

I don't know, it was weird, chars entering the bedroom, then it was a horse stable.

Then Kirk has his 'groundhog' day experience, riding his horse x50 times over a gully he said.

The NEXUS makes it feel like a Twilght Zone episode more than a Star Trek movie. The writers should have thought of a better story or explained things better.

  4. I doubt any of the original actors would want to perform in another S.T. Movie.

Perhaps this is mis-information intended to keep the real details of a possible movie under wraps.

I think the franchise should go forward with new people. I wouldn't mind seeing a 'Voyager' movie,

if done without that holographic room. Their 'return' to the federation would be cool.

  5. ST III was not bad. Not ALL stories can be non-stop action. I think Nimoy handled Spocks' return as well as it could have been done. I LIKED Christopher Lloyd as Kruge. Very in-line with Klingon character.

Great special effects, great Klingon warship. Neat to see USS Excelsior besides always seeing constitution class ships.

ST V was Shatners' comic edge on film. It seemed like a rehash of 'The Way to eden' done on TOS.

I agree with previous Post, Sybok was never mentioned before, seemed like they quickly invented him to make the story.

My least fav ST film was ST IV. The 'save the whales' theme was very poor story writing. Time Travel is overdone. So many other ideas could have utilized instead of that babble.

......ST IV will never be in my Video collection.

  6. I would like to see a new cast altogether, in a S.T. movie era film. (somewhere between I - VI)

    Maybe 'U.S.S. Stargazer' or 'U.S.S.Boseman'.

Voyager, TNG,- space was becoming more 'soap opera' like, aliens were 'face attachment' of the week.

Some movie project with Fan ideas behind it. I'm tired of the Paramount 'star bucks' babies writing S.T. stories.

  7. Upon reading the novel,'The Return' (by shatner) it mentions the Enterprise E was specially created to deal with the Borg- as they have been growing more menacing. Book mentions the ship has some drawbacks, as cramped quarters in exchange for the more firepower, more structural integrity for battles.

...I don't know if this had any relevance with Hollywoods' decision to make a new starship.

  8. Sybok seemed to only 'help' those that really wanted to deal with their pain.

Only exceptions were when he 'needed' to, EX: Sulu, Uhuru- to get them on his Team to get the Enterprise.

McCoy seemed willing to want to 'put his pain' to rest. Spock said he had nothing to hide. By the time Kirk came round, Sybok had the Starship under his dominion anyway; by then there was little to be gained 'forcing' Kirk to face his pain....just my 2 cents

  9. Strange I just watched this movie last night.

I suppose, like other folks comments here-Sybok had good intentions.

Vulcan already branded him a villian, so the guy probably had no chance with StarFleet giving him a 'govt. grant' to fund his search. Kirk is no stranger to Obsessive, compulsive behavior himself.

ST:V kind of reminded me of 'The Way to eden', with the hippies.

Shatner as director shows, the movie was full of comical releif, what with all the U.S.S.Enterprise malfunctions.

    A bit over the top.

I never knew his daughter was in it until I read the credits. Nice touch.

As far as shoestring budget, it wasn't too bad effects wise.

My complaint is, it seems every strange planet is a desert. I also wondered if those 3 chars: Earth Rep, Romulan lady, and the old Klingon warrior were stationed on the 'Peace Planet' because they were 'washed up'

    career wise?

  10. I finally purchased ST:TMP -The Directors' Edition.

I was afraid the movie might get edited as in 'cuts' however-

It was great! The added CGI enhanced the movie. Scenes looked brighter than original also.

It was neat the CGI artists followed the original story boards instead of trying to invent,

    'one upmanship' the original effects.

Also remembered this movie was long. The speacial features are worth the DVD alone.

    ..anyway.

  11. I heard some neat CGI scenes were added, what were they?

On planet Vulcan, is there some large creature moving?

Were any scenes cut, like Wormhole effect?

I am hoping this version just added some CGI and didn't take any cool actions scenes out.

... I am pondering purchasing this. Any feed back is welcome.

  12. Seeing the Gorn was in the Defiant, guess the Defiant Crew ran into them obviously.

Unless the Gorn infiltrated the Defiant as the Tholians have.

This must be a bit after Kirk met them since the 'Tholian Web' is a latter episode.

..Once the Defiant traveled 'thru' the interspatial rip into Mirror universe, this 'alternative' Archer meets his 1st and last Gorn.

    ....guess it makes sense.

altho I rooted for the Tholians, and the Gorn seeing how dispicable the Mirror Universe humans are.

  13. Just read StarTrek "The Ashes of Eden', story of Capt. Kirks' retirement from Star Fleet Story takes place 6 months BEFORE 'Generations'.

Capt. Sulu and the USS EXCELSIOR- play a large role.

Shatner co-wrote this one, and he 'knows' Capt. Kirks' insight., he tells his personal struggles as an older person in this story.

THEN- just read StarTrek "The Captains' Daughter', story of Capt. Sulu and the USS EXCELSIOR- VERY WELL DONE STORY!!!!!!!!

Story takes place 6 months AFTER 'Generations'.

Lots of great tid-bits, special guests, insight on Sulu and how he came to being a father, explains much about him and his career....was nice to see some other ST Character get their own novel.

I COULD NOT PUT THESE BOOKS DOWN! -

-I am not easilly impressed with ST novels nor am I a fast reader!

(I have chucked other ST books aside from boredom.)

I have never read 2 complete novels within 2 weeks, so I lucked out on these 2.
