1. There is places where you can buy songs for about .99 a song.  The only problem I have right now with getting tv off the internet is that not all people have a fast enought conection.  At home I only have dial up it would take weeks for me to download a tv show.  They need to make the technology cheeper so more people can afford it.  If that would happen instead of having tvs you could just have computers.

I believe that at some point there will be a merging of technologies and TV will merge with the Internet and that's how TV programing will get to our homes, via a high speed internet connection directly to the TV.

not that far off from Tivo/cableinternet/cableTv..

  2. (I swear I'm not disagreeing with or correcting anyone, but if this sub-discussion is going to continue, it's important to note that 7of9 did indeed talk about the events of First Contact in Voyager.)

"While Kim and Torres are playing their trivia game to pass the time, Kim asks Torres about the first warp ship, and Seven of Nine enters with the answer, stating that "the Borg were present for those events". This is a reference to the movie Star Trek: First Contact." - Star Trek: Voyager - Year Of Hell

"There is a reference to "Star Trek: First Contact" when Seven of Nine is asked for an example of the Pogo Paradox, She describes the time the Borg went back to Earths past to stop First Contact, which led the Starship Enterprise to follow them back " - Star Trek: Voyager - Relativity

  3. After having watched both episodes, I have to say that I found In the Mirror Darkly to be really entertaining but I did have some problems with this episode.

    Ok the problems now:

First Contact - It did seem kinda wierd and cool to see Cochrane failing to do the Vulcan salute and then suddenly pull out his weapon and shoot the Vulcan. But the thing that bothers me is that how could the humans go out and sucessfully conquer the Vulcans? I find it hard to believe that the humans would have been able to sucessfully pilot an advanced Vulcan ship all the way to Vulcan and use it to conquer an entire planet? Not to mention the fact that at the time of FC the Vulcans are far more technologically advanced than the humans, not to mention smarter too, so how could they have been conquered by a bunch of primitive terrans?

It is believable if you give them the time to build up a fleet using advanced technology from the Vulcan scout ship. Assuming the Vulcans decided to ignore Earth after their scout ship did not return, then the humans had time to build up to higher warp ships because they had this access to Vulcan tecnology. They would have progressed at least as fast as the humans in Archer's era. I think what was portaryed is a reasonable scenario.

What you have said sounds reasonable and while I do not have any problems accepting that when the humans conquered the Vulcans they used their technology to catch up to make rapid progression, I still find it hard to accept that they were able to conquer the Vulcans in the first place. Since it would be 'logical' for the Vulcans to send a ship to the Sol system to investigate the dissapreance of their scout ship. This wouldnt give the humans time develop more advanced ships. And when those Vulcan ships investigating would arrive, I doubt the humans would have been able to hijack them all and use them against the Vulcan homeworld. The Vulcans themselves arent a reckless and foolhardly bunch to be overrun by a bunch of primitive terrans :waaaa:

    324790

as i remember.. the whole issue was that the scout ship detected a warp signature passing by the system and so their intended destination was not SOL but it was in fact a detour ie... VHC wasnt aware that the earthlings had warp technology and that as far as they knew, the scout ship merely disappeared somewhere betwen point A and B of which earth, a prewarp civilization, was in its path

  4. There are only 3 episodes that reference the Tzenkethi race:

THE ADVERSARY (Season 3): We learn that there was a war between the Federation and the Tzenkethi. A changeling posed as Admiral Krajensky and tried to get the crew of the Defiant to start another war with the race.

PARADISE LOST (Season 4): We learn that Benjamin Sisko was the executive officer to Captain Leyton on board the USS Okinawa during the Tzenkethi War.

BY INFERNO'S LIGHT (Season 5): Elim Garak was once on Tzenketh on a mission for the Obsidian Order.

But here are some dates for you to work with:

2354 - Benjamin Sisko graduated from Starfleet Academy

2366 - The Battle of Wolf 359 (where Sisko was a Lt. Commander on board the USS Saratoga)

    2369 - Sisko was transferred to DS9

So, we know that the Tzenkethi War was between 2354 and 2366. Yeah, that is a 12 year gap but thats the nearest I can narrow it down for you

  5. I was thinking.. other than the last five minutes of Bound, can anyone ever think of a time when the charecters on Enterprise were funny? Im not talking knee slapper funny.. but like spock and bones arguing funny or Odo and Quark playing tricks on each other funny or Data and everyone else for being data funny.. i know it seems pretty insignificant.. but i always thought it put a spin during an episode after a pretty intense battle scene or some major developement ...

It seems the whole series was revamped for nothing but action and T&A

    some of my favorites:

"why that green blooded SOB.. its his revenge for all the arguments he lost"

    "Data enough!" " Sorry Sir"

"Sir I AM NOT a Merry man!"

'Are you in love with me ensign, Do you wish to copulate? Take of your clothes, I will not harm you" (had me on the ground rollilng)

and the list goes on and on

  6. I Gave it a 10

I liked it had some loose threads to tie up but the fact of the whole 4 years of the show as a Holodeck program was somewhat of a letdown and 2 much screentime inbetween Riker/Troi and was sort of like a TNG Episode the CGI of Enterprise-D was sort of Sentimental  and the moral Dilema he had refered to TNG episode "Pegasus"thats why he wasn't Captain but still a Commander pre FC should've given more screentime to the Present Cast and it at least showed the Beginings of Leading up to the Federation OF Planets hense seeing more of Archers Speech and the signing of the Charter ("And the Quotes were just shown from the Starship Captains  opening Dialogue")Enterprise-D ST:TNG/U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701 classic "TOS"

NX-01 Enterprise the Present series was a shame they didn't include B-C-E in the closing eps.

not only end of a Series but a 18 year old Era "TNG"-"ENT"

    324152

    Click For Spoiler
The entire series was not a holodeck program. Just this episode. Enterprise did exist as Riker and Troi directly reference the fact that it still exists as a museum. They mention they thought Reed was taller. The past four years have not been erased. They were historical documents, not a holonovel.

And what is so bad about them still being ensigns, UH? Data went 15 years without a promotion. Worf was only ever promoted once in 15 years and Tuvok was the only member of the Voyager crew to earn a promotion of any value (Paris moved down before moving up). Besides, what good does a promotion do either of them? They are both the senior members of their departments on the NX-01 (Hoshi takes command in Terra Prime despite the fact that there are lieutenants on board (ie. Hess, second in command of Engineering mention in Shuttlepod One) and perhaps they turned them down to stay on Enterprise. I don't find it to be a big deal especially one that makes an entire ep ridiculous.

    324158

i agree completely... all of the series happened... it was only the last episode that was a holographic image....

but i think everyone is missing the underlining point of the finale...basically B&B finally put to rest the controversy that enterprise killed Pre-ent canon.. their point was that everything that happened in enterprise WAS canon and that all the previous series were based on the canon built on enterprise

i do admit, we all hate seeing charecters die... data, spock, trip.. but as all know, just because we see them die on screen, doesnt mean that its permanent... i am a firm believer that data's harddrive was stored on B4, and one day theyll be able to reformat B4 or merge the data between the two form a new and improved data

    Click For Spoiler
btw when i heard data's voice i was thinking the soong sisters were falling out of their seats flustered with joy LOL

  7. the thing is with new star trek ending after 3 more shows, there really wont be any new star trek related canon to debate about..

for example, i remember throughout enterprise, after a show i would jump on the forums and put in my vote and post something interesting i saw... additional posts in forums would then have to do with how a certain episode affected the overall canon of star trek... i can remember debates on how the frozen borg found in antartica would affect canon in the 24th century... or when we all tried to predict teh outcome of the xindi crisis.. or when we tried to figure out why klingons in the 22nd century had ridges and the 23rd didnt (later solved)

point is.. with enterprise gone.. will there be anything new to talk about that is ST related? i guess we can go into books, but i think thats a whole different website/forum entirely..

  8. TOS: Leonard Nimoy.

    TNG: Patrick Stewart.

    DS9: Rene Auberjonois.

    VOY: Robert Picardo.

    ENT: John Billingsley.

    308677

That is a pretty hard list to discount. I think I might have leaned more towards Trinneer on Enterprise, though. Nimoy is the obvious choice for TOS, even though I can't recall seeing him outside of Star Trek (except for Transformers: The Movie. He was the voice of Galvatron).

    308890

I concur and nimoy ventured in directing after ST. Most memorable were 3 men and a baby

  9. Ah yes, Darwin. If I recall basically swam around in water-filled Jeffries Tubes and was kind of like Sea-Lassie.

Yes, they had that thing hooked up to some kind of device which allowed him to talk. He wasn't very eloquent though, all his lines were like "DARWIN....SWIM....HELP......DROWNING.....FRIEND......COLD" and so forth.

    :P

I don't know about a talking octopus, they're not all that smart.

Ah, but this could have been a special octopus. ;)

    310282

    lol

  10. In all honesty.. im thinking reformat.. it sounds like a lost cause.. something got into your registry and F&&^%^&'ed it all up your last 2 resorts go into msconfig and see if u can stop whatever processes you dont recognize at startup and lastly if all else fails a system restore.

  11. soemthing came to mind... i did have a friend that caught a virus from accepting one of those downloads from msn messenger.. it sucks but we ended up doing a reformat. you could try and do a system restore as i can tell your running xp.. but i would try that if your spyware and viral detectors are uneffective

  12. help me, fellow techs! ok, see the problem is:

sometimes, when i try to go to a site or download updates for my enthernet

driver, the window will dissapear, only its still there, i just can see it. And then,

when i try to use Control-Alt-Delete, so i can see whats going on, guess what... It

dissappears to!!!! And, when i first start my comp up, it says that i need to run

these files(they're in my system 32 folder[i already deleted on], but im scared

about deleting the other one), but i dont want to run them, cause they might screw up my aunts comp more, and she loves her comp, and if it screws up, she'll probably think its my fault! Oh yah, and the only thing(i think) she's download lately is Skype. oh yah, and another thing ,when i start it up, a couple of things happen(if i hit run, instead of cancel on those System 32 things), one is that a picture that isnt really there(in windows picture viewer) will pop up, but it will say "No preview available". Another thing that happens is that a notepad thing will pop up and it will have swearing and stuff in it, kinda like a hacker would leave! [no way hackers can get into my computer, because i am uber, and i have a computer-condom(if i cant say that word, i have computer-protection)] And, when i sign into MSN Messenger, sometimes, when im doing other stuff, it will say send people invitiations to download some pictures or something. I HAVE RUN AD-AWARE, AND IT DID NOT GET RID OF IT. I HAVE THE PAID VERSION, WHICH IS THE BEST!. PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!

    309144

    1. why were u updating your ethernet driver?

    2. what window disappears? your internet browser?

    3. you deleted your drivers? or uninstalled?

    4. are u looking at a picture or does the faxviewer popup randomly?

    5. same with notepad?

    6. msn messenger is asking other people to do download stuff from you?

try running spybot too it picks up some of the stuff adaware misses

it can be downloaded at download.com
