  1. My kind of person. "Can't get enough of that Mountain Dew" < remember the jingle for the cereal Sugar Crisp? That was a fav breakfast food! I didn't try Pitch Black, but I tried the berry flavor. Tasted like wine!
  2. Hello! I know that there are other Trekkies who also follow NASCAR, such as BakulaBabe. I'm excited to see the racing season begin. And there already is some heated rivaly. The "bump" that Kevin Harvick gave Thursday in one of the Bud races, resulting in a multiple-car crash, created a lot of anger. A couple of interviews, one with Joe Nemechek showed that it did. It sort of reminded me of last year with Brendan Gaughin and my favorite driver, Mark Martin. I am curious to see how that will affect the race tomorrow. Will there be other drivers "gunning" for Harvick, looking for opportunities to exact revenge? Either way, this will be a great race to watch. Now to make sure that I have plenty of snacks and Diet Dew available. Woo Hoo!
  3. :P Very nicely done, VBG! I'm impressed!! That Gary Wright song was one of my favs as a teen. I recall a certain quiet evening with my arm around my girl friend listening to "Dream Weaver." Those were some pleasent days, crusing the streets in my "63 Chevy Bel Aire.
  4. Thanks for the info, MrPsychic! Looks as if I will be watching the show more often, as I didn't realize the strong connection to StarTrek. I also enjoy programs or movies with some "depth" to them, as well. :P
  5. I was channel-surfing last night, and came across a cartoon entitled "Gargoyles". Intrigued by medeival "stuff", I watched it. Lo and behold, a character named "Demola" (?) appeared. The voice of whom was none other than Marina Sirtis. I thought it comical that she lent her voice to a rather dark, sinister character. "Sinister" in that "Demola" hates humans - why, I don't know. Anyone else hear this, or her voice elsewhere?
  6. :blush 2: uhhh... it seems that I am mistaken about the price. The team sold for $625 million. Sorry. Also, it appears that Reggie Fowler is the "point man" of a group of investors who purchased the team. If I led you to believe that Mr. Fowler was purchasing the team as sole owner, again, I'm sorry. I guess my enthusiam got ahead of myself. :P Another interesting note: Anoka County, a part of the Twin Cities metro area, has proposed a football stadium to be built in Blaine, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, dated 15 Feb 2005. The price: $700 million, and is to be a part of a $1.5 billion "commercial complex". It seem that the county would contribute to the cost via a 0.75 percent sales tax. This , to me, sounds similar to what the Green Bay Packers did in order to renovate Lambeau Field. Maybe this will work.
  7. It looks as if Red McCombs has finally found a buyer for the Vikings. Namely, Reggie Fowler, an Arizona businessman, and also an African-American. Should 24 of the 32 team owners vote in favor, this will be the first time that an African-American will be a majority owner of an NFL team. To this I say, its about time! BTW, the team sold for $650 million!
  8. While in Georgia, I looked at a few Trek books in a bookstore near to my motel. I settled on an audiobook - 3 CDs - entitled "Vulcan's Heart" by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz. I hope to actually listen to them, rather than just look at the cover of the sleeve. Anyone else try an audiobook?
  9. I gave it a "9" as well, although I missed the first part. At the very end of the show, it was announced that there are four episodes remaining.
  10. Aww, come on AoD! I think Key Lime Pie is terrific!! In fact, I love key lime pie, almost as much as German Chocolate Cake. BTW, the quiz dubs me as "Apple Pie". I like that one, too, "ala mode".
  11. I'm trying to get to sleep, but my mind is racing with thoughts about tomorrow. "Do I take the family here or there?" " Will the weather be ok for outdoor-sy activities, or focus on indoor things to do?" I even thought of taking a drive, but recalling the past day and a half, nixed the idea. I might get really lost this time.
  12. I added my name to the list! Let's go Star Trek Enterprise!! <_<
  13. "Enterprise cancelled" . I find this to be very sad news. <_< I'd like to see CBS pick it up.
  14. This is from the Houston Chronicle, dated 1 February 2005: HEMPHILL - John "Squeaky" Starr Jr. dressed in a suit and tie to carry the remains of Columbia astronauts out of the thick woods here two years ago. Last week, he wore dirty bib overalls to carve a granite monument to their memory. The space shuttle Columbia disintegrated 200,000 feet above East Texas on Feb. 1, 2003, killing its seven-member crew and scattering debris for hundreds of miles from Fort Worth to Louisiana. This tiny town of about 1,100 was ground zero for the recovery of astronauts' remains and shuttle debris. "I haven't forgotten," said Starr, 58, owner of Starr Funeral Home here. "It's a matter of history here. Sometimes I catch myself riding by some of the places (where remains were found) and thinking about the astronauts." To commemorate the disaster, the Sabine County Columbia Memorial Committee, a nonprofit group, plans to dedicate two gray, solid granite memorial markers during a ceremony here today. Also planned was a moment of silence about 8 a.m., about the time Columbia was lost, minutes before it was to land in Florida. There were other memorials in East Texas as well.
  15. Here is a news photo and caption in rememberence of the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia: Rain puddles on the face of the memorial plaque dedicated to the astronauts of the Space Shuttle Columbia, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Houston, two years after the spacecraft broke apart on re-entry. 16. I'd like to see the Eagles win their first Super Bowl. However, I don't think it will be this year. The Pats look pretty dominating. Brady hasn't lost a post season game yet. But then the Red Sox weren't supposed to win, either. So maybe the T.O. -less Eagles can pullout an upset . It ought to be an exciting game, eitherway. B)
  17. I downloaded this file, VGB, but I can't seem to get it to play. B)
  18. Gen. McAuliffe <<< famous for this phrase at the Battle of the Bulge -WWII check this link
  19. VBG, this one is really a hoot! w00t, w00t! I'd die laughing if he actually did this on the field, as in an end zone dance. Much better than Randy's "moon" shot at the crowd. :P :)
  20. VBG, its been announced in the local news about a possible sale of the Vikings by current owner Red McCombs to either Reggie Fowler, an Arizona businessman, or to Glen Taylor, owner of the Timberwolves NBA franchise and a Minnesotan. It will be interesting to see how this develops as it would cetainly affect Coach Mike Tice's status. And perhaps Randy Moss. Former Viking Cris Carter allegedly said on Sirius radio that " [a]s a matter of fact, I'm going to go on record and say that Randy Moss has played his last game in Minnesota..." . So there could be major changes with the Purple Gang by August.
  21. Congrats, VBG! The Eagles played a good game. The Vikings did not have there "A" game that day, tho not to take anything away from the Eagles. It could have been a more entertaining game had the Purple Gang put out the kind of performance that downed the Pack last week. Oh, well. There is always next year. Good luck to your team. They will need to be in top form when they play the Steelers next week!
  22. The Peewee B hockey club, to which Luke belongs, just finished their home tournament, called "Fire on Ice". Of the three games played by his team, the first one against Blaine was the best. This was a team ranked 8th in the state of Minnesota (Peewee B level)! Our guys and gal kept the score low 3-2. My son had a chance for a third goal, but was tripped up, or so he says. The other two games, against lesser talented teams, our team choked, and were shut out each time. Rather frustrating as a parent to see them do so well, actually their best game of the year, to falling back into the doldrums, playing what one described as "toilet bowl hockey". B) . Off to another tournament this weekend. Woo hoo!
  23. Woo hoo! The Vikes embarassed the "cheddarheads"! Now its off to play the vaunted Eagles, who won't be soaring as high w/o the T.O. in their ranks. But I don't think the outcome will be any different. As much as I'd love to see an upset, the Eagles are too good a team for the 8-8 Vikings. The win over the Pack was fueled by a lot of emotion, a desire for revenge. I don't see how they can drum up that kind of energy, even with Moss and Crew wearing the afros. <<< very odd! Good luck to both teams!
