The Borg had gone through the data they did managed to get from Challenger, and they now knew among other things that the Challenger had asked Starfleet to talk with the Klingons, Romulans and Cardassians for re-enforcements.
The Borg Queen decided to send some ships to prevent Starfleet from getting any help.
At the same time, three more Tactical Cubes had arrived to the Starbase. They had gone out of transwarp just outside the subspace distortion that prevented transwarp travel, and had then moved at normal warpspeed. Other Borgships which there coming from the Delta Quadrant were doing the same.
Then those three Tactical Cubes went towards Earth.
