Star Trek is Star Wars

Recommended Posts

I do know that George Lucas was a disciple of Joseph Campbell who was into comparative mytholigy and comparative religion. One of his core teachings is there are a limited number of actual plots and stories, just lots of variations. Just about every story element in Star Wars emulated something else, so it isn't suprising to see Star Wars itself emulated.

Human experience is unfortunately not unlimited, new ideas for stories are in short supply and high demand, as we progress in our culture the basic stories won't change, just the forms they take. Plus in the words of Philip J Fry "TV audiences don't want anything original, they want the same thing they've seen a thousand times before."
