Admiral Forrest informs Archer that his friend Robinson was killed while mountain climbing. Saddened, Archer reminisces about Robinson and tells T'Pol the story of how he and Robinson were the first humans to reach Warp 2.5 in the "NX Project".

"First Flight" is another flashback episode. It has it's moments, we see Archer in the past when he was just a Commander, and Trip when he was a Lieutenant. Keith Carradine does an excellent job as Robinson, Archer's enemy who becomes his best friend. Hardly no action, but story driven. But it's a good story so I'd say it's above average.

4. Nice job from costuming and makeup to make Trip and Jonathon look slightly, but not too much younger in the flashbacks. Nicely done, though I'd think AG would have stayed in control in order to have a chance to redeem himself. Nice job of effects on the nebula. T'Pol was ok in this one; no emotionalism, but her curiosity for the welfare of Archer seemed a little forced. Still solid overall.
