that's why they change their name around the 30th century, because they were assimilated got freed. :andorian:

No, the Federation won't be assimilated by the Borg.

Star Trek is supposed to show the growth of humanity in a positive way. If in the future humans would be assimilated everyone would hate it. The whole series would be looking for other cultures to assimilate.

Somewhere between the 25th - 29th Century.

The Federation & the Borg will be working together

But not by joining each side as a member of the Federation or the Collective.

But as distant, neighbours & allies.

The Borg would have learn more then they need to know about Individualism, that they decide to alter their method of perfection seeking, which is far better then full assimilation.

Well, if you recall, on a voyager episode called One i think. The Borg in the future actaully take a sample of a specimen and clone them!

So I think from then on the Borg only attack to defend themselves?

In the current era, The Borg assimilate entire Civilizations, because they need "recruits" & also they want to share their Perfection with other races.

The reason they don't clone, is because current Borg Maturation Chambers are still slow in progress.

In the future, somewhere before the 29th Century, the Borg have developed a highly efficient Maturation Methods. As shown in "Drone"

This could lead to a possibility of new methods of Assimilation, because they don't need to assimilate the entire Civilizations anymore, they can clone their own ranks. So they can find a more peaceful way to find Perfection.

By leaving the encountered races alone, those races will continue to grow & evolve.

Every once a while, the Borg can just come & take what ever "offereings" that species have to offer. This way the Borg can have what they want [Perfection] & the Species have what they want [Freedom] too.

In terms of biology of that species, all they need is some volunteers to be assimilated so they can understand their biology. Better still, assimilation can be a new method of "execution" of prisoners. :)

or "Prison life" :(

Oh, in case u didn't noticed earlier, that episode u are refering to is "Drone"

:cheese:

I think that the Borg would disagree on that. You see, the Borg don't just want to steal technologies from other races, understand their biology, find their weaknesses or claim their experiences. No doubt they do those too but, as the Borg themselves say, their main reason for assimilating civilizations is to offer them << perfection >>, a better quality of life, even if it means suffering casualties.

The big problem with the Borg is that they are not viewing their assimilation attacks as a campaign of conquest for own gain but as a crusade to << help >> all other << misguided >> races. This will lead them to attack at all times no matter what. The only way the Federation could deal with it, is through its advancement. I mean, the Borg have been around for 12000 years at least and their technology is not THAT far superior of the Federation whose members have been in space for less than a thousand years ( excluding the medusans that despite being around for so long, advanced very little ). The Borg, as powerful as they seem, they do not advance as rapidly as the Federation, the Romulans or the Klingons ( just like the dominion that also was around for thousands of years but was not far more advanced ). In my opinion should the Federation last 2000 years or so, the Borg would be defeated just like China was conquered by the colonial powers. ( once the greatest empire, now outdated and crushed )

As i say never say never! But the Federation does have alot of power!

I dunno....one Borg cube wiped out dozens of ships at Wolf 359 with little effort. I've no doubt that a few dozen Borg cubes could crush the Federation and the Klingon Empire in under a week no problem. The only way they'd avoid defeat is if they had someone very powerful helping them, perhaps the Fesarius from "The Corbomite Manuver" (TOS) or the Tholians with their web technology could bind the Borg....???

The Borg do not seek to better all life forms, they seek perfection in themselves. Races which have nothing to further them to perfection are ignored.

If the Borg were trying to bring perfection to all, wouldn't they have assimilated the Kazon?

It was established in Voyager that the Borg do find the Kazon worthy of assimilation (Seven tells this to Janeway -can't remember the episode name).
