A l t e r E g o 9 Posted December 7, 2010 Too bad the writers of ST couldn't have been totally original but hey, it's a good formula.
Bethlehem 7 Posted December 7, 2010 I think a very loose comparison, lots of shows have a common thread. Star Trek in any form is still better than Star Wars.
He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted December 8, 2010 I do know that George Lucas was a disciple of Joseph Campbell who was into comparative mytholigy and comparative religion. One of his core teachings is there are a limited number of actual plots and stories, just lots of variations. Just about every story element in Star Wars emulated something else, so it isn't suprising to see Star Wars itself emulated.
ARMS 0 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Human experience is unfortunately not unlimited, new ideas for stories are in short supply and high demand, as we progress in our culture the basic stories won't change, just the forms they take. Plus in the words of Philip J Fry "TV audiences don't want anything original, they want the same thing they've seen a thousand times before."
