Since the thread idea seemed popular on a different forum I moderate, I thought I could give it a try over here. I've modified it a bit since a few of the questions were Battlestar Galactica-inspired. All you have to do is copy and paste the questions into your post along with the answers.

 

1. What's your name?

 

Ben/Benjamin.

 

 

2. Where are you from?

 

I'm from Indio, California (it's two or three cities down from Palm Springs) although I'm currently in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

 

3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?

 

It's supposed to rhyme. The first part is from one of my favorite shows and the latter half a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

 

4. So, are you over 25 or under it?

 

20 so far. 21 in November.

 

5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?

 

Anywhere other than here. I used to live in Italy, which was nice. I wouldn't be against moving back to California although I'm not so keen in living in a desert again.

 

 

6. Star Trek in one word:

 

Great.

 

7. How did you get into Star Trek?

Once I started watching the Sci Fi Channel regularly in either the 4th or 5th grade, I eventually got around to watching the Original Series. I managed to catch episodes of Deep Space Nine although I had to wake up around 4 AM in order to catch them.

 

8. Do you try recommending Star Trek to other people?

 

I've tried, although I'm pretty unsuccessful for the most part.

 

9. Favorite episode of Star Trek?

 

I'd have to say that "The City on the Edge of Forever" is still my favorite episode over-all. I just wished Harlan Ellison would have written more episodes.

 

10. Favorite character?

 

Spock.

 

11. Favorite Star Trek series?

 

The Original Series with Deep Space Nine a close second. I'm not too keen on Berman and Braga's handling of the last two series.

 

12. Favorite non-Star Trek bit of sci-fi?

 

Doctor Who, The Prisoner, and Blake's 7 are some of my favorites television-wise. Anything written by Samuel R. Delany, Harlan Ellison, John Sladek, Philip K. Dick, Steve Aylett, and a couple other sci-fi/speculative fiction writers.

 

13. Favorite other TV shows?

 

Doctor Who, The Prisoner, Peep Show, Blake's 7, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Twilight Zone, Battlestar Galactica, and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace come to mind.

 

14. What's your favorite film of all time (just one)?

 

If I had to choose, Brazil. Runners-up: Blade Runner and The American Astronaut.

 

15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?

 

Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla. The twist ending made my insides twinge.

 

16. Favorite actor(s)?

 

Patrick McGoohan.

 

17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?

 

The last movie I've seen in theaters was Tetro directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It's probably the best movie I've seen this year.

 

18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.

 

Six-String Samurai which combines Russian surfabilly rock-and-roll, a sword-wielding six-string playing Buddy Holly-look-a-like samurai, and a battle between good and evil (or symbolically rock-and-roll and heavy metal) amid a 50s-esque post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The American Astronaut - a space western musical art film that does an amazing job with a shoe-string budget.

 

18. What are you listening to these days?

 

Lately, I've been listening to The Residents. The last album I listened to by them was God in Three Persons.

 

19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:

 

Nothing comes to mind.

 

20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?

 

I don't really like listening to music I hate, so I can't really think of even one.

 

21. Best gig you've been to?

 

I have seen Kids in the Hall (the Canadian comedy troupe - not the rap group) in Nashville.

 

 

22. Favorite drink?

 

Tea. Lately, I've been loving chai tea.

 

23. Favorite food?

 

Potstickers.

 

24. Last book you read?

 

Camp Concentration by Thomas M. Disch. The last comic collection I read was The Frank Book by Jim Woodring.

Get rid of scarcity once and for all.

 

27. Best moment of 2009?

 

It's probably seeing either Moon or the new Star Trek movie for the first time.

Interesting. I'm curious how they'll handle the whole post-9/11 allegory idea.

6 or 7 yrs ago the apartment I was living in at the time had only limited cable. One channel I did get however was UPN I think and every evening at 9pm Voyager was on and I fell in love
