Quantum of Solace (Bond 22)

Recommended Posts

Singer AMY WINEHOUSE will reportedly get up close and personal with hunky actor DANIEL CRAIG in the next installment of the James Bond movie series.

Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has offered Winehouse a part in the Casino Royale sequel after falling in love with the Rehab star's hit album Back to Black.

A source tells the News Of The World newspaper, "She's perfect for the role because she's the embodiment of the retro glamour of the original movies."

The latest film in the superspy franchise is set for release next year

If you don't know who she is, you can see her video "Rehab" here . Needless to say, that if she does get the part in the movie, she will probably do the theme as well. Just like Madonna did the theme and appeared in Die Another Day

If Grace Jones can be in a Bond film, anyone can be :yahoo:

She is definitey retro and could be good in the film, just as long as she isn't the focus. But hey, could be good anyway. Casino Royale was great, so I won't say anything until I see it. I just read that she has been approached to do the theme for the next movie

Well, it seems that Amy Winehouse’s role in the film will in fact be small, similar to Madonna’s cameo in DaD. The actress that is being considered for the lead Bond girl in the film is the Dutch actress Carice Van Houten, which will make more fans happy lol.

This one is MUCH better. However, she can't hold a candle to Eva Green from Casino Royal. That girl was a goddess!

Amy Winehouse says she has no plans to be in the next Bond film, but may do the song

Reality check - Amy Winehouse denies the wild tabloid rumours

Enjoy this rare moment in the mass media - a denial of a James Bond rumour has been published.

Back in November last year, singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse was tipped as a potential artist for the theme song for 22nd James Bond film. She was quoted by ITN as saying "we've been in contact with the James Bond people and hopefully that'll come off in the future."

Fast forward to this month, and lazy tabloid journalists reheated the rumour falsely linking Winehouse to a Bond girl role. MI6 editorial decided to not publish the superfluous hot air.

In a refreshing rebuttal, Winehouse told MTV "I'm just not an actress... It can't be true".

But when asked whether there was any truth to the original rumour, Winehouse enthusiastically said she would like to contribute to the soundtrack.

I'm not too impressed with either her looks or her song.....

Ditto.

What I would like to see is Sean Connery as a Bond villan. It has been long enough since he played Bond that he could pull it off. That would be interesting.

I agree that would be interesting but Connery is probably too old. He has also declared himself to be officially retired.

A lot of news, ^ the two girls above will be the new Bond girls for the new movie Quantum of Solace (the now confirmed official title of Bond 22). QOS is the title of a short story by Ian Fleming in the book "For Your Eyes Only". It is good they are using Fleming titles again

The choice of "Bond Girls" over the years has been interesting, none of them can hold a candle to Ursula Andress in Dr. No. And of course I hope they come up with a great name for the next one, none have ever topped the name for the one in Goldfinger, (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't) Galore. (OK FINE!!!!!!!! the software won't let me say it one way here's another P*u*s*s*y Galore)

Looks like Winehouse will be the singer/songwriter for the next Bond movie

AMY WINEHOUSE will get to write the new James Bond theme as well as croon it - but ONLY if she stays off drugs for two months.

The Rehab singer - back to her best and appearing neither shaken nor stirred by her spell in an addiction clinic - has been told she must still be clean in April to make the record.

A source confirmed last night: “That’s when the Bond people make a final decision on who sings the theme. If Amy is clean then, it’s hers.”

Amy yesterday took a trip out of the London clinic where she is being treated, and has been given the boost by film bosses despite some people around her doubting she would be fit to even sing the song let alone write it.

The insider said of DANIEL CRAIG’s new 007 film Quantum Of Solace: “It will have a dark and moody feel so Amy would be absolutely perfect.

And Paul McCartney supports Amy

Paul McCartney has said that Amy Winehouse would be a "really good" choice for the new James Bond theme tune.

The former Beatle, who performed the 1973 Bond hit 'Live and Let Die', claimed his only advice for the singer would be to avoid trying to think up words that rhyme with the film's title Quantum of Solace.

He is quoted as saying: "I think Amy Winehouse would be really good, and I think she would do a really good job.

"My advice to her would be not to try and rhyme 'Solace' with anything - that's too hard."

> Do you think Amy Winehouse is the woman for the job?

Artists including Duran Duran, A-Ha, Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey have performed 007 tracks in the past.

When asked whether he would ever pen another Bond tune, he replied: "I definitely wouldn't do it again.

"I have been trying to think of something to rhyme with 'Solace' and all I can come up with is 'Wallace'! I don't envy whoever is going to do the song!"

I'm a fan of what Phil Spector did musically, and she reminds me a lot of that kind of music. I think it has the potential to be very retro with a sound like during the Connery films

Perhaps.......if she can manage to stay sober long enough to write it........

Here is an interview from January with actor Mathieu Amalric, who plays Dominic Greene, the villian in the next Bond movie Quantum of Solace

Bond villain speaks from the set of Quantum of Solace

French actor Mathieu Amalric is probably best known for his role as French information broker Louis in Stephen Spielberg's Munich, and is currently picking up rave reviews for his touching portrayal of paralysed journalist Jean-Dominique Bauby in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Now however he's graduated to the big league by landing one of the most coveted roles in film: a Bond villian! He is set to play the dastardly Dominic Greene in Quantum of Solace, and IGN caught up with him on set last week.

Tell us a little bit about your character?

Mathieu Amalric: We've only just started shooting and at the moment I'm doing a lot of rehearsing for the stunts, which means there might be a fight. Sometimes the villain sends his bodyguard, but this time, there is a fight. It's awkward because, what I like when I discover James Bond films is not to know anything, so it would be disgraceful for the public if I tell you who this guy is because it's part of the suspense.

Can you tell us what kind of villain he is?

Amalric: Well there are a lot of villains around today. We are all villains, no? When you see Casino Royale there's the fantasy of Bond, but it's also realistic – it could happen. It's not a villain on a secret island who wants to destroy the world - it's more complicated than that. For example, what's happening in economics today - where are the villains? We don't even know. They are more like a gas - you don't know where it is. Before you had something to help you look like a villain - a jaw full of metal, an eye that bleeds - something, but I don't.

How did you get the part?

Amalric: That's a mystery also. What am I doing here? I think I'm here because Marc Forster likes actors. We've already shot three days and I really feel that the guy is so happy to have these actors. He's shooting what happens on the faces. Maybe my getting the part has to do with Munich too.

Did you have to think quite hard before accepting the role of Bond baddie?

Amalric: No, I didn't think one second. The only problem I have is that I'm mostly a director – that's where I come from. I was assistant director for almost 13 years, I was assistant editor, I did lots of jobs in the movies to do my own films. Being an actor only came about because Arnaud Desplechin, the guy who did Kings and Queen, had this curious idea to think that I could be an actor, but I had never acted before, and I was supposed to direct my own film!

But it's such a high-profile role, you aren't worried that people will only remember you for this?

Amalric: It's funny you should ask that because I talked with Max Von Sydow, who was in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and who was a villain in a James Bond film. And in Munich I played opposite Michael Lonsdale, who was also a villain. I asked Michael, and he continued to play afterwards in very different sorts of roles. He said the pleasure is to be where you're not supposed to be. I think the pleasure of being an actor is to have the opportunity to use all the facets that we all have in our heads, no?

What's the pleasure of doing a Bond movie compared with sitting paralysed in a wheelchair for The Diving Bell?

Amalric: It's a different way of using your imagination. In The Diving Bell I had to use my imagination – that's what permits him to travel. But to be in a Bond film has to do with childhood you know – being the villain you're allowed to do things that you're not allowed to do in real life. Especially with the women!

Would you secretly rather be James Bond?

Amalric: No, I don't think so. I prefer to be James Bond in real life. We all try to be him – a great guy, always strong – but since Casino Royale you can see that Daniel is trying to bring James Bond back to humanity. Something that has to do with feelings.

Do you manage to be James Bond in real life?

Amalric: Sometimes. When I'm in love.

Where's your villain from? Is he French?

Amalric: It's not set. He's not French. Marc Forster is Swiss so he could be Swiss, but it's not set.

Are there any specific fighting techniques that your character uses?

Amalric: We had this idea – in the script he was supposed to have a secret skill, but we had this idea that maybe James Bond would be more surprised if the villain doesn't know how to fight. Sometimes with anger you can be much more dangerous than with skill. So I'm going to fight like in school... I was going to say like a woman but thought better of it!

a rumor that has been confirmed as true is that singer Shirley Bassey may sing the title song for "Quantum of Solace"! For those who don't know who she is, she is the one who did the themes "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker". This is huge news! It hasn't been confirmed that she will, but she is in the running.

The other rumor that has been tossed around and might be true is that Dominic Greene, the villain in the next movie, may be a gay character. The last gay villains in a Bond movie were in the film "Diamonds Are Forever". They are Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd
