Well, for those keeping count, this it what, the fifth time i've said im back? i swear man, i leave fora while, then come back. Its kind of a love-hate relationship! (JK, this place is great). Of course,when i get back, the first thing i see is... serial killers joining the board!:blink: JK again! But seriously, the first thread i seen was a religious thread, and then i learn that there is an actual forum for religious threads. This site was great back in the day, about a year ago or so, but now it's kind of gone downhill. Don't get me worng, i don't mind discussing religion,but this is STARTREKFANS.net, not RELIGIOUSDISCUSSIONS.net. I think we should have more star trek related threads not started by Vic, and less religious threads. Anyways, thats about all for me. Welcome back wally! I agree, this board has turned into nothing but politics and religion. Then again, Star Trek did deal directly with those two multiple times. I think it's switched to that since there's no new trek now and not for a long time, 2008 possibly.

I haven't been around because There's hardly anything new to discuss about Star Trek.

That, and I finally managed to create a MB that's successful. Takes up most of my online time.

Between the time of TOS's cancellation and TNG, the fans kept Trek alive. We didn't have message boards and internet. We did it with pencil and paper! The fans published fanzines and such. We always had something to discuss and only 79 episodes of Trek to work with. So please don't tell me there is nothing left to discuss about Trek.

If you want to see more threads dealing with Trek, then START SOME! Too many people here are thread responders and not thread starters. I used to be guilty of that myself. If you sit back and let other people start all of the threads, then you have no right to criticize the threads. If you don't like the threads you see here, start some that you do like. If the thread is interesting, it will have some legs and people will respond, trust me.

Kevin created STFs as a safe haven from the kinds of things that went on at st.com and everyone understood and appreciated that at first, understanding that enforcement of rules was the key to keeping the community safe and enjoyed the safety they afforded but then the rules became a burden to some and being corrected for violating them became a reason to become offended and leave.

 

Then there's all the effort Kevin made towards tweaking the site to become more pleasurable for all, creating special places where potentialy offensive topics could be discussed away from the mainstream but some, rather than staying out of those areas, violate the terms of agreement by entering them then create bashing threads like this.
