Superb episode.

Definately a "Gold Standard" episode.

Incredible in every way. Perfect performances, insightful storyline and a very important message regarding the issue of individual rights.

You honestly felt real sorrow for Data and really WANTED him to win his case.

Also, I feel Riker was excellent in this episode since he was clearly tortured at the fact he had to fight for something he didn't believe in which could jeopardise the future of a PERSON who would eventually become pretty much family to him.

The performances of the actors who played Maddox and Louvois were also of an incredibly high standard and Patrick Stewart was awesome.

Brilliant writing from Melinda Snodgrass who sadly was driven away from Star Trek because of Roddenberry's outdated utopian ideas for the franchise. We should have had Melinda on DS9, she would have been in her element with that environment.

Rating = 5

I had voted for this a while back and now am getting around to post about it.. oh, well.

I had voted this one a five, it was a great episode from start to finish. Though I despise Maddox for probably obvious reasons. I thought the entire thing was well written, well acted and probably one of the best episodes of the entire series.

5. Great episode that would serve as a template for the Doctor in his holographic rights' escapades. Frakes did a great job of acting, as did Stewart and Brophy. McBroom, not so much, though her final judgment was well delivered. Yes indeed, excellent episode overall.
