Anywho, Trek movies aside, best sci-fi movie ever:

THE TIME MACHINE (2002)

I don't think that I can pick a favorite all time sci-fi, so I voted other. I think my favorite would have to be something Trek.

star wars: the empire strikes back,

then the return of the jedi,

then a new hope,

then attack of the clones,

then the phantom menace.

lets hope ep3 is better then the other two recent star wars movies.

also i really like alien and aliens, but not alien3 or alien ressurection.

Minority Report. One of the best Sci-Fi's I've seen in years..it toppled Nemesis's weak showing and left me with thrilled.

I forgot about that! I change my vote to minority report, that was a great movie! I originally had a tie between the day the earth stood still, 2001 A Space Odyssey, and star wars, (even though trek is better than all of them IMO) and then I couldn't dicide so i ended up nulling my vote.

Other, I liked Planet of the Apes, the original one; that has the best ending.

 

I also like Charly, based on Flowers for Algernon, which may not be considered Science Fiction but it involved a scientific experiment with intelligence.

 

I also liked Contact - actually liked the movie better than the book.

 

Maybe I'll rent Minority Report - I've never seen it.

Very good list! I assume with Dune and The Thing you also mean the first ones? I cant decide between the 2 Dune's, they both bring so much to the story but The Thing is a easy choice; the remake, might as well add the remake of The Blob to my honorable mention and The Fly remake.

I mean the film ' Dune' by David Lynch, and not the mini series. The mini series did nothing for me, it lacked the menacing atmosphere of the books, and film, and the bloke that played Paul Atreides in the mini series wasn't very good in the part.

 

'The Thing ' with Kurt Russell was the second one. The first one was made in the 50's and it was very poor and funny.
