Star Trek New Voyages on CNN

Recommended Posts

I saw this on CNN today and recorded it for everyone here that doesn't get CNN or may have missed it.

I guess this report lays to rest the argument that some had that Paramount would sue.

Alright!!! Live long and prosper Paramount!

I believe that attitude is the same with fan sites. As long as we don't try to make a profit then they're ok with us. After all I guess we're a form of free advertising for them lol.

:look: Hey! I saw that one! :look: They showed it on CNN Europe here as well  and I was like "HUH? CNN reports about Star Trek?" :wow: but it was interesting to see and I was surprised that Paramount seems to have gotten 'reasonable' when it comes to fan films. :look:

I'm glad for the New Voyages guys, of course. That report's gonna give their movies a big popularity jump. :frusty:

It is good to know that Paramount does not want to go after individuals that are not trying to use the name to make money.

Hmmm....

I followed your link and tried to watch ,but it says that there is no software update available from RealOne to access it.

That would have been an interesting one to see, too!!

I saved the address in favorites and when I get home later ,with a little more time to work with it , I'll try to access through that means.

The suggestion is appreciated, though .

From the clip, it looks better than what Paramount is putting out in the name of Trek now anyway ... maybe Paramount should hire these guys.

I finally watched the second episode (and my first viewing) and I must say I was impressed. OK it was very much a fan project with many homages but considering the amount of work and money that must go into the project from private individuals it is good fun and well worth enjoying. High praise to all.

Two things that struck me:

1. The chap who plays Spock is actually rather good.

2. The opening of the episode after the title sequence was a highlight, a long track across the planet and the distinctive classic music worked well, much better than some of the establishing shots on the official productions.

Btw, can someone please provide me with a link to a place where episode one can be downloaded. Cheers.

I watched "In Harms Way" by the New Voyages group and was astounded by the quality of it. What a great job these guys did!. It puts the Starship Exeter group to shame. I too would like to see their first episode but can't find it anywhere.

Thanks for the kudos, Zipkirk1966! And we would have loved to been able to extract you and the others from the disaster that hit just before we filmed!!!

I may not contact you and the rest of the gang as often as I feel I should, but please know you all on the Gulf Coast are in my and the rest of the NV crew prayers.

In case you haven't seen it yet, the December issue of WIRED magazine has an 8 page article on what we filmed in September with some fantastic pictures, including the FIRST released of Walter Koenig playing Chekov.

Come on over to the New Voyages Forums and keep up with the progress of "To Serve All My Days"!

I really do miss you guys and gals from Coast Con... and wish I could be there to help...
