Windsor or Four In Hand Knot?

Yes there is. I only know of the Full Windsor, because its in Naval Regs that the tie has to be in that knot.

I don't remember if it was required in the Army or not. I've just always used the Full Windsor. The Four In Hand has always looked "sloppy" to me.

I rarely wear ties (Jem wears them more than I ) but if when I have occasion to I go with the Windsor.

To look smart at work i go with the Windsor knot and IMO its quicker to do for me at 5am then a Four in hand

I find the Four In Hand to be the easiest, but I just think it looks too "sloppy" since it's uneven. I like the fullness of the Windsor.

I like the Windsor myself as well. However, I don't know the first thing about tieing one.

 

This is a little embarrassing, but I didn't know how to tie a tie until I was in the Army. I learned how to tie a Four-In-Hand from my Senior Drill Instructor who had also been in the 3rd Infantry. (To you civilian types, the Third Infantry is the Army's "Elite Honor Guard". They guard the President, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, etc.)

Don't feel bad about not knowing how to tie that knot. I usually just tie it and leave it tied. I've had some ties tied for a few years lol

I like the sleekness of the four in hand, but it seems the windsor has been around forever. I seem to remember my brothers using that for Sunday best.

I've always used the windsor knot. I didn't remember the other kind until now. As a "little shaver", my brother and I wore clip-on bow ties!

Never really liked the four in hand.

 

Then again I never really enjoyed ties anyway.

 

Thank the stars that the Federration did away with ties in the future.
