~ Urgent Computer Discussion!~

Recommended Posts

This thread is for Urgent Computer Questions and Help. Sometimes someone in here knows the answer to a question some of us might have and need help right away. Here is MY first Problem, I'll explain:

This afternoon something was loaded onto my computer as I was here on the site. I did a download from MicroSoft last week and have been having problems ever since. My computer keeps freezing up. I am getting so many Pop-Ups now that its interfeering with everything. I went into my Add/Remove and looked for something new. I deleted 3 programs that looked suspicious to me. All concerning "Ads" Now there is one in there now called 'Windows SyncroAd' which wasn't in there last week. Does this sound like something I should remove? I am going to look for this and see what it is.

Jeanway, the problem that you have with your computer is little too difficult explain with posts. You might need to take your computer to someone to fix the problem. I wish I could help you out, but I will need to see the computer.

Well, Odie. I fixed the problem. I did a Recovery disc and lost everything. Then I needed to borrow a start-up diskette from my landlord, he's very knowledgable about computers. Then Fenriz walked me through it over the phone. My problems started when I downloaded an update I THOUGHT was legitimate from Micro-Soft. It Wasn't, I was tricked. :b-day: The pop-ups started coming fast and furious. I removed the "SYNCROAD" PROGRAM AND THAT SEEMED TO ALLEVIATE SOME OF THE PROBLEMS. But then things got worse again. So I decided to just get rid of everything and start over. So far so good. AND I solved another problem during all this. I couldn't seem to get my sound back. Until while doing the reload I discovered the NAME of the sound program was changed from "kclocks" To "Cab" so I just took a chance and "Voila!" there it was, so now I have my sound back. :b-day:

I swear I will never belive another POP-UP again, big bunch of Con-Artists and liars. :b-day:

OK, this question, not so urgent. Just a basic computer question.

Once you do a Spybot run, does it take a few on and offs to actually notice a difference in the computers performance.??

I just ran 'Spybot' for the first time today. It said it found 12 viruses and fixed them.

Do you know if these viruses left any eggs??? :frusty: I've never heard THAT term before, I just made it up, but you understand what I mean. Something that will come back from the original virus??? :frusty:

All tolled Spybot found over 200 viruses the first 3 times I ran it. But since then only DSO Exploit has been found up to 3 times a day.

AND someone told me that everytime you enter a NEW site whether to just look around or download a picture that sometimes a virus comes along with it. :naughty:

AND that sometimes when you get an unsolicited E-Mail there may be a virus in it too. So Whenever I would try to block it, I'd HAVE to open it to block it, it would get in that way. So I'd just delete it instead of Blocking it for good. But sometimes even when I block it, it comes back, the E-Mail, I mean. :flex: And so does that same virus :nono::bow: It's a constant battle. B) And DSO Exploit can get back in all the time no matter how many times you get rid of it. Because it "Morphs"

I've decided not to worry about DSO Exploit anymore...it keeps coming back...I just hope it's not "Kiddy Porn" hiding somewhere on my computer...and the FBI will hopefully understand and not take me to jail.

Jeanway, I am not trying to be mean or anything like it. Have you taken any computer classes? It might help to give you a better understand about your computer and the internet. Remember, this just a suggestion.

Yes, Odie, I have. I know what happened. I changed my settings late last night when I was tired and just forgot I have to load it now, it doesn't load automatically like it did. It was messing up my log on, so that's why I did it. No problem, just a percieved problem. :naughty:

OH and Odie, I'm not trying to be mean either. But you really shouldn't make such broad stroked critisisms of people's general knowledge when it was just such a minor thing. That could be very hurtful to the wrong person. :hammer:
